OK
I know I ask too many questions but I recently read about how Andy Wallace sometimes records leckys with two 57's uses one down the center, duplicates the other pans it hard left and right and reverses the phase on one.

Does anybody know any other techniques....eg I'd love to hear any theories on peeps like Ethan Johns.

Sounds like a mutated MS technique. On a close-miked amp, why would you bother?

I think what we need is a "Colloquial English ->Colloquial North American ->Colloquial Australian --> ACTUAL ENGLISH glossary of terms.

It may save some confusion.
