Thank you for reading my post. I'm sure I will really benefit from much of your advice!
Anyway, here's a song I've been working on for a client, actually my only client as of yet (I usually just record my own music). I just got a digital BBE Maximizer, so let me know if I'm pushing it too far with that.
It's on the skewer and ready to be roasted!

I'd give you a smart-ass comment about how the song isn't loud enough, but that's been done for some other poster already <g>. So where's the song?
And if you're wondering how much Maximizer is too much the answer is quite likey ANY Maximizer is too much, or you have not enough of something else - like a decent sound source.

I think the tune is cool.
Arrangement-wise, I wasn't quite sure what that low end buzzy instrument was that on the second chorus. By the third chorus, I figured out it was a Bari sax, and I think it works there, but currently, the Bari is very messy in the EDIT: SECOND chorus. (It's good in the third chorus).
In the outro, it sounds like you've now got a whole horn section in there. But they are completely buried by guitars. I believe the horn section is spread out across the stereo field. It you're going to use the horns, then I would pan them tight across the left side of the stereo field. And turn them up. If you're going to use horns, make sure I know they're horns, and I know what they're playing. Otherwise, they're just competing noise.
The stratocaster is moving all over the place, and I find this somewhat discconerting. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be dueling guitars or what. It almost seems that way. But unless you're showcasing two guitar players and it's just a wank off song for that, you should avoid the appearance of dueling guitars. Also, there is so much reverb on the guitar it's eating an immense amount of space in your mix.
The BBE seems fine. I don't believe there is too much bass, but I'm not listening to a wave file, and I'm not listening on a system that I could necessarily make that determination. Overall though, there seems to be a disconnect between the low end and the high end of the mix. It doesn't really gel.
