.... who has regions move around within comps all the goddamn time? I'm so sick of losing my comps because I have to flatten and hit "Move to recording position". WTF?!!? It's been going on from the day I bought Logic

:D

The most horrible (yet suspiciously common) time this sort of thing to happen!

I get this...if I cut the region without flattening the comp it loses comps...or mixes them up.
If I want to cut a chunk to use in another place I have to flatten first.
PITA!!!!!

No, it's just another piece of software with it's own set of annoying quirks and bugs.

thanks for sharing

yeah, this isnt a pissing match between daws here dude (trust me, logic won that long ago). you seem to easily forget the fact that a lot of logic users (myself included) are FORMER PT USERS. think about that. if i used PT for 8 years or so, day in day out, why would i dump it to learn a new DAW, especially if that new DAW had a few of its own bugs? hmmm.... could it be..... now im going out on a limb here with a crazy idea, but lets throw it out there....... could it be that bugs and all, it still flogs the living shit out of pro tools? hence why after a year of putting up with bugs like this, i havent gone back to pro tools? ive changed interfaces, ive changed monitors, outboard, heaps of shit, yet the only reason ive wanted pro tools since the change is to convert pro tools sessions to mix it in logic

I seem to be having trouble using the QUOTE function correctly

no actually, I was amused because of the common practise of jumping into threads and dumping on ProTools as if it's simply UNBELIEVABLE that it isn't perfect (implying that illogic or anything else is)

in fact, I remember commenting not that long ago on a ProTools specific question in The Womb being 'answered' with 'helpful suggestions' to switch to ilLogic

so I took this opportunity to amuse myself.

and others...

carry on.
We now return you to your bugs

Well I am not amused.
Especially because Logic has been playing up on me big time today.
Oh yes...we have a new bug today.
If altering the send level on a bus...any bus whilst recording on another channel, it is recording the automation data....with automation off. It doesn't however record the automation visibly, where you can edit it.
That and phantom channel moves are driving me crazy!

I've been thinkng about moving to pro tools again all day.

Even if you're right you still play a dick on the radio show.

Comped audio regions are folders. You shouldn't be cutting them without flattening them to an audio file first, as at that point, you're not really playing with an audio regions, but a series of pointers to audio regions.

I don't wanna piss on your already soaked parade, guys but most of the "spooky" mishaps that have occurred when using Logic has been due to (mostly but not only) students creating the project in an incorrect way, saving strange settings, loosing track of audio files or altering preferences or something else user related and then forgetting about it.
I find that when people are used to another DAW, especially experienced users, they tend to use Logic as if it was the old DAW, using f. ex.key commands that means something completely different in Logic.
Long time PC users most often default to using Ctrl instead of Cmd key in combination with other keys....not a very good idea.

Not saying this is the case here, but it is worth the time to sit down and think about ones work flow....

Well thanks for the tip Jord.

Pretty shit though isn't it?

It make editing easier in one way but harder in another.

Hmmmnn....

Makes you wonder why the scissors even cut comped regions!
