My band is working on plans to do a German tour (and possibly a date or two in England where we have a decent fan base already) in October of this year. 10 days and 7 shows. The person we're working with has dual citizenship and seems to be very familiar with all the ins and outs of what's needed - albeit in Germany only [possibly].

Now, that said, there's always the possibility of getting royally screwed by putting too much trust into somebody that turns out to be un-trustworthy.

The preliminary cost we were given is $3K (US) per band member to get this going, with another $3500 budgeted for advertising. That seems reasonable... but, may be over or understated. And it's all coming out of OUR pockets (though the promoter/manager said he'd foot his $3K himself... yeah, not buying it either).

Some things I can't do oversight on... clubs, owners, etc - but one thing I can do is bring oversight on the cost of production rental, equipment rental and maybe even lodging.

What I need help with is the rental parts... and maybe be able to help scale the show and equipment to budget managability.

So... would anyone familiar give a hand here? Referrals, price sheets, realistic expectations... something I can use to bring counter prices or alternatives - or even to be able to use to discern if this guy is a wolf in sheep's clothing or not.

Let's see what it evolves to... I'm sure there are other musicians looking to leap the pond and could use some info too.

Thanks in advance!

Got a couple for ya:

Here's the myspace site (http://www.myspace.com/moore)
And here's the "official site" (http://www.mooremetal.net)

yes, the official site sucks. I'm trying to get a band concensus to move to a new provider - maybe this one (http://www.bandzoogle.com). With all the different templates, the electronic sales, unlimited bandwidth and decent storage space for a reasonable price, I'm pushing for that avenue.

But... that's a different thread.

Thanks again!

These guys are the best in Belgium...huge pros. Small gigs to enormo-festivals. They do gigs pretty close to the German border. If anything, they can give you real-life european rates that will ring true for Germany.

Its a little out the way but I have two venues in north wales that have PA and lights already there and im the engineer for both if you would like a gig let me know via here or my email which is burnsy1364@hotmail.com.

Your style of music seems to be a lot of what everyone is into at the moment.

Do any of you think it may be valuable - those who might be able to be hired to do sound/lights for this 10 day tour - to be able to submit bids?

I guess what I'm getting at is the fact that we're going to be looking at an amount for rentals on this and somebody may be able to go under the amount we'd be spending and still make it worth while - so, keeping the business "in house" and a win-win for everyone. Maybe you know somebody you trust with good gear that might be interested...

Thanks again to all who have responded so far and those who haven't yet.

If any of you have some tips, tricks or hints that would be helpful, I'm all ears (eyes?).
