set up a 24 channel FOH console at the back of the room.

set up an 8 channel monitor mixer on stage.

use line-outs from specific channels on the FOH mixer to send to the 8ch monitor mixer (so when the drummer says "can i get some guitar" you can only shake your head and say NO because you haven't wired the guitar channel up to the monitor desk)

use pan pots on the monitor mixer to balance across monitor mix 1 (vocalist) and 2 (drummer), and don't send anything to the other band's monitors because you haven't figured out how to yet...

honestly.

we loaded in at 4pm. by 8pm they still didn't have the mons working properly. then by 9pm a FOH amp had died. apparently by the time we went on, this had been swapped out and the FOH was working again, but there was no god damn way we were gonna trust these idiots (of which there were many, at least 4 i counted) to do anything right.

we ended up turning the amps right down, and playing a quiet improvised drone/noise set while the vocalist (who's the star basically) sang un-amplified on top of this.

24 hours later, i'm still left wondering, and shaking my head. WHY would anyone do this ?

why ?

why ?

WHY ?
