Very handy, I've always liked to lift the cab for recording but this takes the idea to a whole new level.

Pretty cool! I've seen the commercial version of this thing.

Haha, no doubt. I can't believe someone didn't come up with that sooner!

Essentially a "one size hopefully fits all" horn loading of the speakers.

Wall mount flat-screen TV also comes to mind as an alternative, but not being a TV guy myself I can't speak to the price range on those.

Perhaps this image hasn't circulated as widely as I thought...the caption is "redneck flatscreen."

Depending on how many cabs you work with, yes...

Well, I'd think it's intended for club musicians with a single combo amp. I can't really see it applied to a wall of 4x12s - it would be pretty pointless anyway with no rear port........

Specially since it's designed for ported cabs and studio applications where you're very unlikely to find a wall of 4x12's

Yeah, that's pretty much wahat I said......

Not necessarily studio though - I got the impression at the store that it was intended for guys playing small to medium clubs.....

I dunno.

In the studio I would probably just mic the back of the amp.

Can you say "scoop bin"?

Scoops have been abandoned by all but the carnival crowd in live sound for many years, and with good reason.

Although to be fair they do throw like a bitch, the frequency/phase response ain't up to much...I can't see this device being any different for an amp.

I have however toyed with the idea of creating some sort of stand arrangement to tilt my 4x12 backwards a bit, complete with some sort of device to keep the head flat on top...but I wonder if it's worth the effort/van space...

It's not worth the effort...that's why they invented the full stack. Although those old Vox amps the Beatles used sat in a metal framework that allowed them to be tilted.

Yeah, my other guitarist's Supersonic has tilt-back legs..
