What's the story on setting up some working links to the past Cape projects?

No rush or anything... just wondering if that's in the plans or not.

...I figgure they're owned by their respective songwriters, not by psw...

Super extra bonus points if you can host full res. files!!!

If you click on the little RADIO up in the headline banner, it brings you to a jukebox. I understand that the cape tunes are either almost there, or there already. You have to turn the "links" knob to switch to them.

Grape as has been stated in past Capes the Songwriter owns all rights to the song.
I believe that will continue in future CapEs as well ???

Excellent, thank you for filling in the blanks...

Does anyone know if there is a complete member list of the teams for all CaPEs?

It would be more accurate to say that the assigned songwriter on past CAPE projects did not explicitly or implicitly relenquish any rights in the song that they are otherwise owners of. For the purposes of assigning copyright, all team members implicitly, by participating, agreed that all authorship credit in the song, and the resultant rights that arise from authorship, were solely vested in the assigned songwriter.

Now, there are other rights involved, so I'd step right back away from saying "all rights". But suffice to say that CAPE did not assign or control those rights in any way differently than they would be handled in a "traditional" production.

Lawyers will be along to clean up this mess that I'm making of this. Do not take this as the final word, but it fairly closely describes what happened in past capes. The new CAPE will be only very slightly different, just will be a bit more explicit about all the rights involved.

Also please note that my post at the top of this thread dates from way back at the beginning of November, before the radios were set up and working.

Wish I could help, but I don't have the space on my ftp server at present... :(

I'm sure though Chris will open it up again when he reads this.

Heyas Brendo,

Check your PMs. I've got all the CaPE tracks, and I'm happy to help you fill in the blanks.

Cheers,

Dave

My fricking web server is crap. my admin cant tell me why this happens either. it just decides to prompt for passwords. I cant even get into my web site without a password. No one can. This sucks big time.

any ideas? When I get home i will upload to a cape user account and post the username and password.

Umm...

The link I sent you via PM has all of CaPE IV in the original published mp3 formats... all of which are 192kbps or 320kbps, depending on how the team submitted it, I guess.

Or is that a typo, and you're looking for the wav files?

Cheers,

Dave

Really? I downloaded Team Synergy from your link and it was 142kbps VBR.

But I'm sure ours was a 192kbps fixed bitrate.

If someone wants to upload all the tracks to my idisk I'll do a permanent html page for em...

http://idisk.mac.com/mscheurer-Public?view=web

or if you use a Mac, just mount my public folder, user name is "mscheurer"

You're right... and it's weird.

All I did when you posted was took my CaPE IV folder where I originally downloaded the songs to and put it up on my site. I flipped through a few of them, and found only 192 and 320 when I answered your question... though, admittedly, Synergy wasn't one of the ones I checked.

Don't know what to tell ya. From where I sit, what's up there is the same files as what was posted in the hold house when CaPE IV was unveild. I certainly didn't convert anything.

Cheers,

Dave

Weird shit. Maybe our ME gave eshaun a VBR mp3 while other mastering engineers did 320 and 192.

How many ME's were there last year?

Fulcrum

IIRC there weren't any on CAPE IV, unless the mix engineer felt like doing a bit of ghetto mastering (for want of a better term) to the final mix.

For Cape IV IIRC the tracks were supposed to be delivered mixed but not mastered, which is why the volume levels were all over the shop :D
