Price was right. These usually sell for 1500-1700 new. Anyway, I am happy about it. I REALLY didn't want a basswood body Ibanez and 90% of them seem to be... this ones mahogany, and with a fixed bridge, so the tone should be decent.

I have played quite a few Ibanez guitars and the only one in the past five years that I recall being interesting in terms of either feel or tone was a mahogany body S series with a fixed bridge, although that one had more of a tune o matic thing going on.
Enjoy the new guitar.

Good buy...I just bought myself a DKMG that I'm going to strip out and rebuild. I could never get into the JS guitars. I can't really pinpoint what I didn't like, but they didn't feel right to me at all. Obviously they work pretty good for Joe.

yeah, well I'll see if my hands like it or not, too. It is least is somewhat of a TONE guitar for Ibanez, imho. It's street price is 1600-1700 so I had to jump on this when I saw NR @ 700 USD, 20 min B4 the closing. ;) If I can't get used to it like I did with my recently bought NOS 93' G&L Legacy (killer fast neck), I am sure I won't have trouble flipping it for 1000 or so....

Nice. I used to love the JS series guitars. I've got a 90's JS1 and a JS6.

Congrats... I got myself one of these last week... surprisingly flexible guitar, right now it's getting a bit of work on the tuners and the electronics

Why do I see a Sustainiac system in this guitar's future? :Roll eyes:

Nice! I love it! YEARS ago when I used to work for an independent guitar retailer the Yammy Mike Stern was my go to noodling guitar when we had a mid-morning lull in customers. That thing was so damn comfortable to play!
I always struggled with newer Ibanez solid bodies. Always felt a bit dead and plasticky, however I liked a few early 90s RG550s and of course the mahogany S series. They felt more substantial than most other solidbody offerings from Ibanez.

the mahogany S series.
Ah, wayback-machine!
A mahogany Ibanez S was my first decent guitar,
sounded great, though I always struggled with the thin neck, that eventually nearly snapped as I tried to put 11 gauge flatwounds on it.
Swapped it for a candy apple red Tele,
that, funnily enough, ended up with a humbucker at the neck and a P90-ish SC in the bridge.
Has anyone recommendations for a Tele bridge humbucker in SC format that goes well with the Gibson Classic '57?
I'd like a noiseless alternative.
All the best,

It is, that's what sold me, I've been looking for a pseudo-tele for a while... and while I've played about 40 different teles last year (Surprisingly, the best sounding/playing being a korean Squier) this one, as soon as I plugged it into a big amp (Orange Rockverb) gave me "THE SOUND" I was looking for and it plays unbelievably well... so no, no sustainiac for this one, but sperzel tuners, coil taps on the knobs and replacing the definitely substandard selector switch (Too flimsy and noisy)

Yup. The switch in my Yammy MS Tele, sorry, "PAC 1511MS" (just rolls off the tongue doesn't it?) died after a year or so. Pots are still going strong.
That hot rails on the ashtray bridge though is so microphonic I can just about talk through it...

Blast from the past! Yes I believe he was.... damn, I still have his first solo record on vinyl around here somewhere.
Remember "Laughing Stacks"? :D
