I am diggin my JS1600. Nice seperation among the strings in saturated sounds. The pickups FRED -bridge and PAF pro -neck are a little hotter than I am used to, I find myself rolling the vol to 70% or so a lot when running into my roland cube -which has a ton of saturation. Straight up - hotter pickups are more fun to play. The Fred is DC 10.4K or something, so it isn't a Seymour SH-4, 16K or hotter still, but still much hotter than a typical PAF, 8.2K. The feel between the 10K Fred and a typical PAF clone is HUGE. The 8.2 sure makes you work for each note, esp into a Marshall JMP or earlier. I may post a couple clips of the JS1600's tone into the Roland cube.
btw I might sell the Roland and pick up the Fender Blues Jr -recommend by Blackie. The Roland is fun, but I need tone.....the Roland doesn't record too well
