WOW!!! I really dig the mix and production...Big drums coming in later in the song....NICE!

Her voice is not really my thing, but the mix and production, I think are great. Just my .02

Nice work Big Dog!

Hey Cheech. Very happy to hear you like the mix. I am the singer/ songwriter here. I am open to hear your thoughts on my vocal.

BigDog...... I dont think there is anything wrong with the vocal...its just not my style, thing, what I am into, etc.
It was recorded very well...bg vox and all mixed nice to me, but for real...Im a nobody.... I just wanted to give a compliment on the overall production and mix. I honestly could not tell you what to do with the vocal.

I just really enjoyed the overall tune, and songwritting!!

Again...in my book (who am I)... I say Friggen A good stuff!

please dont take it as offense....its just a personal thing on the vocal style. I was just being up fron and honest on the whole production..OK I'll shut up now!!!

I'll listen again, and see if I dont have another 2 or 3 cents to add about my particular taste on vox, if thats cool.?.?

OK I listened again......and here is my OPINION...... I think the verse vocal is great, I like it...its the real operah sounding, deepish, Pat Benatar vocal on the chorus..ok I know that makes no sense, and I am not slamming the vocal, I am just trying to describe what it is that I dont personally find great about it. Some people may love it, but you said you were open to what I thought on the vocals.
Now after the drums kick in I can almost like it on the chorus, where it gets real big, but it still leaves me wishing it would have been sung a little different.

Now I know you cant just go changing your vocal chords or nothing, if it were me producing, I would see if there was amaybe another way to sing the chorus.

Ok...im done.

I dont want to be enemys, and I DO NOT THINK I AM A BIG SHOT....Aight BigDog?

I really like this track...

Vox are great, really like her voice, and there's nothing wrong with her delivery.

I think you are waiting far too long to bring the whole band in, the sparse instrumentation works well for the first verse and chorus anything longer than that is too long.

The "All for what" sections (where she sings it by herself) are a tad too long.

Can't comment too much on the mix as I'm listening on a cheap home stereo. Perhaps bring the bass up a little and take the vox down a notch.

Hey maybe thats it...maybe the vox are a touch loud, but I disagree on the arangement.... I like where the drums come in big...I guess....LOL! Maybe it can come in sooner. I really like that part though... I really like the sound of the guitars too. I really like the acoustic gtrs in the mix.... Good stuff.

OK ...deepish, Pat Benatar vocal on the chorus.....just trying to describe what it is that I dont personally find great about it.

Hehehehe...good catch there Cheech.

I haven't sliced into this serving of "Patloaf" yet bit gimme a bit and I will.

bigdog...you might be better served not telling anyone you are the artist...poor Cheech was almost looking for diapers thinking he might have offended you. We both know you can handle it but posters unfamiliar with you likely do not. For the sake of a less biased opinion, a little less info is often better.

Keep on posting and good luck with your music.

Cheers,
Aardvark

Seagate: I guess as I was listening, in the middle of my post what you said started sounding like something I wanted to hear.
Pretty much I was changing my mind in the middle of my post... Forgive me for the confusion.

Aardy: Thanks for the help there bub...LOL!! I quickly realized that she could handle what I was saying...thanks for keeping good spirit with me BIGDOG!

One could say the same to you, my dear.

It seems to me, I put up a long post rebuffing your idea that we are unfairly shackling your art with "rules"--a post which you have yet to respond to. And while I did use the term "rule" once with you, and in a general sense, I corrected myself, and you, based on dwoz' suggestion that we were in fact discussing "tools." Not rules. I thought it was a valuable exchange and was in hope of some sort of epiphony from you.

Unfortuately, given your use of the term "rules" again (post #1 of this thread) it's clear that you have either completely ignored my post or didn't read it. Regardless, I would ask that you (re)read and respond to my last post (http://womb.mixerman.net/showthread.php?p=16276#post16276)addressing your desire to work outside of constraining rules. Otherwise, I believe you are merely wasting my/our/your time.

Enjoy,

Mixerman

BigDog,

I like this one alot...the singer has good timing...she's seems on top of the beat, and the song...the "airiness" of her style matches the brushes.

I t does build and build, but when she's runnin' back to the barn, she's runnin' full out...and ya gotta like that!

Great listen:Thumbsup:

Hello There Biggie -

There is so much potential with this song...if I may...from a "music evoking emotion" standpoint...I'm not quite "there" yet.

I agree with Master Seagate above, the "All For What" are too long and don't have much (or enough) vocal variety...at 1:11 you start a 8 time Rain Main journey...i can actually see Dustin Hoffman walking in my office in circles, "all for what...all for what...all for what..."  i'm trying to be funny - it's a defense mechanism!

really - the song has a great and timely message but i don't feel the conviction, for instance, imho 1:37-1:59 the vocals could be more frustrated or angry or something? then at 2:24 when i want to hear the angst - the vocals take a back seat to the instrumentation (mix issue?) and i can't hear them as much as i would like to. at 2:51 the song starts to come together - but i (personally) think this is the point that you drive the point home and it needs a bit more PUNCHEvil!

again, it is on it's way to a wonderful, politically thought provoking piece...i would just love to get swept up a bit more into the emotion...

humbly,

em

Hey BigDog,

I REALLY like the timbre of your voice. Especially on the vamp out. I am willing to bet you're pretty smoking live.
