I won't comment on mix cuz I'm on the crap comp speakers.
Prosuction wise, the tune sounds like one long intro. The verb is cool, but I kept waiting for the tune to kick in.
Good tune, good sense of place, just needs to get started. That verb effect has more power when it has something to compare to, so maybe coming in at some point with dry intimate vocals and dry-ish percussion would define things better and add to the sense of place.

Thanks Cosmic.
Good verb usage ideas. I love this place!
thank you for your time.

Hey subvocal,
like Cos, I'm waiting for something more.
Not too sure about the amount of verb, a bit too much for my taste.
Nice string arrangement, very believable. The flute is a little annoying but only because it sounds out of tune in a few spots.
Nice tune though, just needs a change of pace...
Adding drums and bass to the second half would do the trick.

Does this mean you don't want a critique from me? Or that you want one and figure this is the best way to get one?

Is there a mic on the acoustic guitar that you can use instead of the pickup? Regardless of the answer to that, I'd get it out of the middle and move it over to the right. I might be inclined to hard pan it. Particularly since there is another acoustic guitar that comes in on the left.
I don't mind the excessive reverb. And I think the general mix is kinda cool. I like the arrangement. I like the form. But overall the mix is a bit light on the bottom end. You can get away with a bit more low end out of those guitars for instance. And you can definitely give some low end to the vocal. I'm not sure if you've filtered the vocal for effect or not, but given the landscape, I think a more broad vocal could really do this mix justice.
I am making these comments on the second mix as the first no longer seems to be there.

Thank you for your time. You don't miss much if anything. I did go direct with guitar. I do mix my vocals to sound very tinny, high. I have a need to finish this song by the 14th but I am going to re do the guitar right now with a mic (a shitty mic but a mic neverthless) - beta 58...
I will EQ out some of the high end of the main vocal and try panning the mic'd main guitar a touch to the right. If I accomplish this, I will repost and keep the old mix up as well.
I want to thank you again for taking time to critique songs here at the womb. I know you are a very busy dude who works in this business 24/7/365.
No matter who may post their work here, there are many good people willing to offer their time and knowledge to help someone to become better. This forum and the people who post here have taught me a lot. I have learned something from just about every single response I've ever recieved
(okay my knees hurt now)

thank you big.
I came up with a horrible sounding mic'd guitar and I give.
I just about killed this current mix messing with the guitar and vocal today. I will have to re do guitar track/vocal in the future before I put it on CD but for my needs this 14th I'm going to call it "as good as it gets" with this mix

Nice... The spacey vibe is really pretty - the way you swell parts in and out just enough to keep the song moving along.
Reminds me of World Party.

Thanks Dik.
I appreciate your feedback on production.
I ended up doing a couple other minor things yesterday and today.
(mix) Tried to EQ the highs out of the main voice a little more, some gain adjustments on guitars, percussion, bgv's.
(prod) Edited out some of Vanessa (bgv) to see if her parts would have a better impact with less of them through out the mix.
Mix wise, this mix is pretty close to the last one.

Thanks again for your help with this. Today I'll submit this for the MAMAS here in Madison. (genre- "other")

Last night the MAMA nominations were announced and this song was nominated (in its current mix) for best "New song" in the genre called "unique".
Thanks once again to the Womb for being a GREAT forum and to ALL OF YOU who come here and make it a great resource for those who want to try to be better and need some solid advice on their art!
I consider this a win for all of you.
