Hey guys,
I have a Shure KSM 27 that worked well for about 2 months.
Now I connect the xlr cable and as soon that I turn on the phantom power the meter goes all the way to clip and it make ugly sounds. It was a gift and new, went to the store
for exchange and surprise the even newer one had a same problem.

I take good care of my gear; always turn off phantom power before connecting or disconnecting the mic. Tried new cables, different pre, interface and DAW and still same problem.

Anyone heeeelp please, any suggestions?

You have already mentioned all of the normal culprits one would associate with this problem.

Basically, you've swapped out your entire signal chain, and the problem persists.

Assuming you've checked everything else, could it be your template session is corrupt and causing a feedback loop?

Have you tried with another mic? Could your vendor have received a faulty batch of mics?

Give Shure service a call. I sent you a PM.

Sounds more like a phantom power supply problem to me.

Try it with a different pre. Try the same pre with a different mic that requires Phantom.

Otherwise, if it is the mic, Shure has AMAZING customer service. They'll take care of you the way that a company should take care of it's customers.
