I have one and I think I'm going to get another one. The price has dropped a bunch. I can't find anything else like it out there. Your thoughts?
Wadda ya mean Wanker?!?! (Well not all of the time)

Tascam have now got something similar.
DV-RA1000HD.
Check it out before you pull the trigger.
Also check out Brad Blackwood's Mastering forum at REP. Do a search, because I remember seeing a thread on Masterlink issues at some point.
Cheers,
Tim

I looked at the DV-RA1000HD. It does considerably more than a Masterlink. It also cost $1200.00 more.
The ability to create DVD Audio and DSD discs is very cool and the multiple input types including DSD are very impresive at this price point. But my current need is just for CDs and a place to store finished two track mixes. And it would be tough to justify 2 grand for something I may use in the future as I am only recording myself and my band. Nothing commercial at this point.
Regarding "Why a second one"? I have two recording setups in my location. A Sonar based DAW and an old Yammy 2816 that I still like to use. As they are in different parts of the building, I am growing weary of moving the unit from one location to the other. And the newer one has a larger HDD than my older one.
I can get a new Masterlink for $700.00 + tax. I think that is what I will do. Thanks to all for informing me about the DV-RA1000HD. It will be in the back of my mind for a while and I will be on the lookout for other devices like this. Hell, it'll probabally be $1200.00 a year from now. That is my typical luck.:icon_eek:
Thanks again.

I'd spend the money on a small dedicated computer instead. For the same money you can get better converters and it's much easier, faster and more organized to deal with than a Masterlink.

I like the masterlink, but there were a few issues that were always annoying. If the DV has addressed them, then it'd be worth looking at. The biggest issue was the User Interface and the amount of time it took to burn a RedBook CD.
Bob is correct with the computer, but I've found that I needed a standalone box for certain situations.
