View Full Version : Carlo Sings, who wants to do the solo?

archtop

Had Carlo over here today puttin' a vocal on some stuff,

and he knocked out what I think is a great vocal on this version of "Drown in my own Tears" that I been dookin' with.

In the spirit of colaboration and comraderie

Who wants to do a solo ?

Come one, come all.

It's pretty obvious where the solo goes
(there's no vocal at solo section)

Just copy a couple bars of the tune before the solo on to your track so I know where to line it up to, and we should be good to go.

It's kind of a tricky one to solo to, pentatonic don't work so well, but I'de love to hear what you got.

Caveat... bassist playing guitar.

I've got blisters on my fingers! (http://home.comcast.net/~bluemojo/music/Drown.mp3)

Just thought I'd have a go with it. T'was fun even though my guitar chops suck.

Been meaning to submit a track for your project Richard but I'm being summoned to the next county to help my mom get my dad out of the hospital. Gotta get the old dude squared away puuting up an extra stair rail, hooking up another tv, etc.

Hopefully tommorrow.

Great job so far on this tune.

My last encounter with the blues was me posting a clip over at the M****. Everyone more or less agreed I should be killed.

I'm not easily scared, so this is by way of penance (and you know I'm not easily scared on account of I know MUDCAT is going to follow!) :icon_eek:

DrownInChrisJ is the mixed-in solo section, RawChrisJTrack is the guitar with lead-in snippet to synch with.

They call me "Mr.Wrong". If that hasn't been beaten to death as a song title (Hmmm... maybe even if it has...) I'm using it.

Anyway clearly the man axed for it.

BYW, there's stomping, and there's "stomping". If you use less distortion on the guitar, its envelope decays quicker and allows the backround to breathe. Also, it's a good idea not to "print the FX to 'tape' which also allows the mixer to do his/ her thing.

And of course, Archtop determines how much or how little to use, whether to comp takes, make it into a ring tone, shitcan it in its entirety, have Aardvark erase and re-record the tracks, or whatever. He's the producer on this little joy ride. :Coolio:

Archtop played the whole piece at his Plumtree studio, and I sang the leads, and the back-up...this little choked-up tenor even got to put a bass line in...it ain't Ray's girls, but it works in a pinch.

I'd imagine it would sound more organic if Arch had put some lines in the choir, to break the sounds up...but live and learn!!

You had me fooled. In that mix I thought it was a choir. Nice room at Plumtree too... sounds like you've got some room mic in there or backed off the mic. Arch does have a nice voice and ought to put it to use soon.

Jeez I hate to follow Traz... nice one dude. I'd like to hear what you do with Sleepwalk.

But good job all you guys. Some nice tones and chops all round.

Perhaps a bunch of excuses will help the sound on this.

The Leslie cab happened to be all setup so I used that, but it don't work for blues so well. I have three broken fingers and am in a lot of pain. My dog ate my picks. Aliens abducted me right in the middle, you can hear when it happens by the faltering noodly bits trailing off in astonishment.

Close, that was '68. Cosmic Wifey did some cool stuff back in the day. That's her in the middle with the Dave Clark Five in the back. She still kix ass too. Usually mine.

I think you're recording and producing her also.

Yup on recording, but she's too mean to produce. Once in a while I can sneak some producing in when she's not beating me horribly for more reverb. Sometimes when she's passed out drunk I'll touch her boob, but it's dangerous.

If you never hear from me again you'll know it's because she read this and I'm dead.

Cos.
