Well that is different...
Very cool and Refreshing.
To me, it brings back the days I sat with my parents listening to SDJ and Sinatra. I love the tones, the vox could be a tad louder. I don't know to many people doing this genre...

cool. a nugget from my north wa neighbor.
it is well played and the vibe is excellent as is the subject matter's contrast against the smooth feel.
i heard things in my head (besides the voices) that might be cool:
adding different elements to the different parts as the song progresses, i.e. the second verse introducing the bg singers again with ooooohs and aaaahs or sneaking in a b3 or something, ya know? then the same elements live there for the second chorus, then you drop them so's the bridge sounds different instead of the same instrumentation-wise. bring in flourishes, drop out the guitar, shake it up a bit.
and it seems that the final chorus should be a big finish, but the bg's aren't even there.
and finally, the vocalist is playing to his weaknesses instead of his strengths. instead of acting trained, let him be untrained and raw over the smooth band bed. it might even help underscore lines like: "i pleaded with her, ah, take me back, i'll change my sorry ways"
i like this kinda shit.

Type me the chords and I'll tamper with it when I get a chance.
I think this type of Jazz is a bit more up Fulcrum's alley, and he has a better keyboard situation.
So I slunk into his driveway and removed the distributor cap from '49 Buick to free him up from some of the chores on his honey dew list. On the way back from south CT on the ferry it occurred to me that I could've probably just PMed him, but where's the fun in that?
Thanks Crunch for making this post visible to everyone but Fulcrum

I-- what?
I'll give it a listen when I get home. As I'm currently at work and Nobby managed to evade the armed rent-a-guards patrolling the campus in order to sabotage my engine, my arrival at home could be a couple of days from now, so I hope you're not in anything resembling a hurry.

what manner of ancient code be this? you northwestern washingtonians can't help rubbing our thurston county noses in your steaming piles of chic, can you? (yeah, like you don't screw your sisters too.) it looks like some of that shit people used to use before the top 40 ear wars removed the need. i applaud your use of a dead language. very retro. can your drummer read this?

Thank you for putting this up! I am loving on it!
Starts off with kind of a more standard feel and then gets all "Chicago" in the chorus. I liked this song so much I think I'll learn it. BTW, the vocals totally work for me.

This IS a great tune.
That wee Jamie (http://www.jamiecullum.com/) can really write and deliver--I was pretty tickled the first time I heard this number on the radio. Couldn't get it outta my bean.
I wish I could've caught one of his shows before he took off; would be really something in a small venue.
The kid, (I say kid--he's under 30), is pretty cool too, at least judging from the interview I saw with him last summer.
He kinda put my faith back in the youth, and in new, yet sweetly old-spiced jazz.

I took the whole family to see him at the Paramount 2 months ago, he was great, his piano chops were even more than I expected, his old school jazz drummer being a jazz drummer
just really blows my skirt up.
(as we were a few song into the opening act Josh Ritter my ten year old Turner said "what is this, this isn't what we paid for")
