Hey all,

I am currently building me a new edit suite and am currently evaluating what lights to use in it.
It's a rather small room (17m2, height 2,9m), with only little natural light, and I would like to have a good overall light with as little hotspots as possible and with little reflections on the screens as possible.

Currently thinking of using fluorescent light panels - but i fear that it may lose any vibe and it will look more like a butcher's shop (well...sometimes the work in there will not be too different...)

Any ideas, tips and thoughts?

Thanks,

Georg

Yeah...avoid flourescent lighting if at all possible.

Maybe you could go for some of those small halogen downlights on a dimmer. Aim them at the walls.

Cheers,
Tim

Avoid fluorescent light at all costs! Depending on your screen
type and refresh rate it'll flicker like hell.

I prefer (indirect-) halogen lights, the beams directed towards
the walls/ceilings in front/side of me.

you should also avoid lightning, maybe just stick to lighting for now...

OK guys thanks for the input (and for the correction.. well :-D the big traps for non natives...).

I just discovered that the new gf of one of my closest friends is a professional light designer, so I put it in her hands now :-)
I post pictures as soon as my room gets ready...(if everything is on schedule that would be mid-march).

Thanks again,

Georg

Well, Georg, you might also consider using fluorescent light panels like _this_ (http://www.audioforce.de/frame.htm).

(Go to _our house_ and check the orange suite for example)

Lots of colourplastic-covered panels there. Looks very warm and comfy and not cheap at all if done right.

Shez
