I posted this one at the "other place" and got no response at all.
Dunno if it got lost in the shuffle, or was just plain too awful for comment. It was an early effort my my daughter and I.
Let me know, ok?
It was inspired by the Stephen King Dark Tower novels.
James Project music (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandid=58688). The song is "Voice of the Rose"

Very slick production...I can hear ALL parts balanced, which is nice.
The singer is in the pocket, though I prefer more air, but that's just me.
Drums and gutar work are spot on.
Good one, thanks!

Singer has some good moments but a few too many weak ones. There is also a lack of passion in the delivery...this is a bigger issue for me. The track has some charm and the production is close to right but the sense of disinterest from the vox kills it for me.
Good gtr space....bass is fine...drums are not very dynamic and sound too safe.
I would love to hear this track done with a pushed in your face sense of nothing else matters....drums driving, guitars emoting and singer fighting to make sure we know how she feels about each and every word.
Cheers,

Carlo, thanks for the kind words!
Aardy, thanks for the response. I was hoping you'd chime in on this one. You always give me advice that improves my mixes, and the fact you chose to focus on performance issues on this one was actually a big confidence booster for me! They're easier to fix :very happy:
Re: the drums. As on everything I've posted, this was a programmed drum track using MIDI and samples. Any advice that you ( or anyone! ) could give that would help make them more dynamic would be appreciated

and let me say also...if she can just suck in some air, and open her mouth, and sing it out, it would be a whole different thing. If she is shy, boost her confidence, if it's her style...

I'm listenin' now, and I agree with the comments about the singer not quite cuttin' it.
To hear this tune sung with some jam, (and I'm thinking that this might only be possible with another singer), and with some kickin' harms., would really take it up some notcholas for me.
(Barring the use of a different vocalist, I heard that they have ball implants now).
