cos u my internet pretend friends.
This is back in the day a few years ago before I gave up recording myself n writing.
I think its amazing cos I did it in no time...and all in whole takes inc the bad keyboard string part. I was in love with a puertorican/scottish girl who lived in Ny.. the first lines were wtitten with her in Paris...then the rest in Ny...and the retrospect verse in London.
I didnt know anything bout recording then...just had a pc and a nt1. Wrong note on 'grow so green' and most people will be bored of verse by third. Harmony should be added by 'send this to ya'.
Anyway...don't want anyhelp on this just wanted to share some of my life/music.
:)
I don't care if you slaughter me...I don't take myself seriously but other people enjoy my stuff sometimes but they arent musos so fuck ya'll!!

cos u my internet pretend friends.
i don't like to think i'm a pretend friend to anyone...but i understand.
thank you so much for sharing this - so personal - so lovely. thank you for trusting us with this...i definitely feel the emotion and believe every word you say.
i love the line:
"and how we could let such a love take it's final bow..."
*but what happens at the 5:00 mark...?

OK sorry bout the pretend friend thing...was drunk and talking shit as per usual.
Its amazing I can even embarrass myself in cyberspace!! I woke up thinking 'oh no'!!
At the 5 min mark I sung an excruciatingly off key note...so I covered it up with the nearest sample I had. Shoulda used a bleep.:) I guess it is v personal. Thats half the fun of a forum, you can kinda hide behind a nickname. Thanks for listening...hope your ears recover soon:lol:

Thanks Scratchy.
Don't know when I'd ever get round to it.
Also I have an uncommon problem with this one. Too much to say. I think the structure is flawed cos there are too many verses and there is not enough change to keep the listener interested. Maybe if I added some interesting harmonies and some effects in the last two verses. I'm open to suggestions.
Maybe I shoulda put it in the songwriting workshop.

Beautiful song great vox.
It's just my experience but all the positive vibe up here IS real.
I have very close friends from this place. Like "it's 3:00 in the morning and my car won't start" friends. I hope you get a chunk of that too.
Thanks for putting this up.

Thanks Mous
I do belive the people here are real...I was just being silly.
I feel like I do have some real friends...even if they exist only in cyberspace for me :).
I wish I'd had some help from the fine folk here a few years ago!! It'd also be amazing to have met some of you in real life... It's really nice to meet people whom do music for a living and are willing to talk.
Sadly I'll prob never meet any of you as I'm off to be a gypsy soon...and to get married.
If I do set up a place I'll let you all know and hope that someday I get a few suprise welcome guests.
Thanks again people for the kind words:)

Ok...
So heres me in the stairwell a few weeks ago befor I knew that you wouldnt record reverb like this. Slims in the background singing bvs...
Guitars ugly but point is after a min of singing I actually enjoyed myself and forgot anyone was around...actually lost my self for a second.
Bit of a van impression but so what.:)
If anyone listens..thanks.

hey man I have no clue about your lyrics since English isn't my native language but I like your voice and the emotion coming through. I love this singer/songwriter stuff. Keep up the good work.

I hear one of those "ZONE" moments...it's what it is all about...loved hearing it, just plain enjoyment...no fuss, no muss!
Now, what about this Gypsy thang?

Dude, are you serious?
er...yep I was. Seriously thick!!!
Ok I feel really clever now.
But thanks for all your compliments.
I love singing but my voice has always lacked power. I think I sound like a 15 year old...but thanks all for the encoragement. It really means a lot coming from y'all...cheers mous:)
I might record something new one of these days..I'd like to get back into songwriting.
So Carlo I guess you are tazlking about the gypsyish song I did. I hate it...I put it up cos my sister made the video.
I like it lyrically but the melody sucks big fat co**
Think its a bad mix too.
Again thank you all :)

Sadly I'll prob never meet any of you as I'm off to be a gypsy soon...and to get married.
what about this gypsy plan? sounds fun. some of my friends traveled through southeast asia for a year after getting married (and stayed married! :icon_eek: )...
me? it was a bike trip through austria, france, switzerland and germany - as a non-red meat eatin' newlywed...yep...that was me ordering fish at the Hoffbrau House in Munich...i think i would have preferred snuff sprinkled on a limp pickle..but that is travel for you!
yeah! adventures into the unknown for you and your lovey! how very exciting!
(although - the real gypsy experience will be navigating the territories unknown of the budding relationship - yes - marriage changes things...my friend once said, "the good gets better and the bad gets worse...but you're doin' ok as long as the 'better' is winning.")

Well I think she is a fantastic person...very kind and loving and clever, humourous. I'm sure you are kindred spirits actually. She just got granted a Visa which was a big suprise cos she got deported a few months ago. So running off to be a gypsy will wait for about 5 months. I'm gonna be a little old for it then!! Its a really difficult time to leave your career behind...30. But I need to go with her...its something she needs to do (travel)and I would never have the guts without her. We've spend months on end together and had no problems. I'm not saying there won't be any but...I'm pretty sure we are soul mates so we'll work them out.
Like you said, its supposed to be a good test of a relationship...going travelling.:)

I saw this a few weeks ago but my internet was being funny and taking too long to download anything so I downloaded it tonight and this song is so good!
For someone with just an nt1 and a ibook this is semi inspiring. I love the vocals and the vocal sound.

Wow....thankyou Nigel. Er did I blag I only had a NT1??
The stair case one was done with two nt1s and my macbook pro with metric halo in.
The other one was done before I knew how to record..think I had one mic possibly an NTK and a PC.
Thank you v much...
are you talking about the songs I posted here in this thread or the ones I did recording other peeps? Cos those Vox were done on studio project c1's.
Check my web for my current gear list. Its still pretty crap but getting better. I'm thinking of getting a cheap Neumann or however you spell it just to trick some foolish prospective clients in to being impressed.
But thankyou v much..you guys are all really cheering me up. I'm having a bit of a biz crisis right now so this is a great distraction.:)
