Ok... so I've basically finished three tracks. Only posting two..the others too bad. I'm unhappy with so many things but too sick of them to carry on. They have taken about six months and its been a huge journey for me. I huge catalogue of errors and mistakes and learning.
Fucked up the drum recording really badly on one which you can hear..not 100% happy with one full performance from any of the artists but thats time constraints.

However what I am proud of is the work that went in to coordinating all the musicians... most of whom didn't meet and with very limited budget and time I tried to get the takes out of them. There are parts of each which I have had to make do with because the take is simply not there...but I've had to settle with things. If I had a bigger budget these would be ten times better as I would have spend double the time recording but I'm lucky enough to have the project. I hope one day to have the opportunity to record everything until I and satisfied with each part.
What I do know is that I am a third in to the next three and It's all been moving along at a much faster pace. Although I have learnt some new recording techniques here I may not get to practice them as my client was happy with certain things...like the bvs...all done round one mic in a shit room. I've got a nother 4 choristers coming in and he wants to do it that way again. I guess thats my biggest beef about making music for money.
I guess unless you have made it.. people cant afford for you to do it to the best of your ability.
:)
Anyway I just wanted to post these so you guys know I am really trying. Not just here to crack jokes...and with your help and advice my next three will be a lot better. So thankyou:Thumbsup:

Lebouche,

Don't fret...I think yer on a good track for the sounds that you've produced so far...If yer customer is happy, then fine. You, none the less, have continued to learn and will make decisions the way you want in the future.

The BV, IMHO, are fine in their old school, close, performance...put some beef, maybe in the drums, but over-all...great job!

When the bgvox come in, put them around one mic, but make it a stereo mic.

The bgvox in the first cut do suffer a tad from mono-itis. there's this change in perspective in the bgvox halfway...what's up there?

I could suffer a little bit more upfront lead vox there, too.

What'r you using for a reverb on 2nd cut? sounds a little grainy.

Overall, though...very good...no tails hanging out, no obvious signs that animals were harmed.

Mr Lebouche,

Please put the 2nd tune up in it's entirety, tell me who the hell that is, and don't make me beg.

Dude, if the Job of that was to get her vibe across. I'd say you killed it.

Thankyou Mr Mous!!
Coming from you thats a v big fat compliment which has made my evening. I'm not sure I should post the entire tune for two reasons. One being.. I only got one verse that good..that being it. Two being I got paid for the job so not sure If I'm allowed to put the whole track up on the net..not that anyone would nick my shit work but the dude might visit here and hate me forever.
I could ask him if you like but I put the strongest parts up to impress you the most:grin: . That verse feels like the singer is in THE ZONE not sure I should post her name at the same time as saying shes really horrible to record. My whole body aches when she sings ...my neck seizes up and my teeth hurt cos she is consistantly horribly out of tune. BUT as a recording artist...once I get through the pain of tracking and editing, tuning words and tweeking auto tune she's great. She does slip in to THE ZONE expression wise and in the verse I chose she sounds like a true diva...theres a bit of Whitney there.
She doesnt do much music work and I'd be happy to put her in touch.
The job was to make the track and gather the talent track it etc. She didnt hire me but thanks v much Mous... like I said made my night. Its the one thing I think I'm good at...coaxing performances. :)
Dwoz...thanks for your comments.
Not sure what reverb...I'll check. Dont know why the perspective changes either... I used about 4 different takes for the chorus and I may have been stuck for one bit an copied and pasted it in to one of the 4 making two the same and fucking the persp. Thankgod normal peeps dont have ears like you!!!
:)
I'm glad you guys have seen something positive... I was feeling a little like a womb chump lately so thanks.:) Off to a party now I'm sure I'll have terrible tales to tell.

Well Lebouche,

Understood about the track.

Now I'm even more impressed. If she's pitchy, You totally fooled me. I didn't hear that. She sounds SO confident, and I love that almost Tina thing she gets on "child". Also, it sounds like she still has some air in her tank at the end of the little riff she does over the last cadence, but I noticed that she was down a bit there. Did you have to do that to hide pitch correction? or was that just part of your fade? either way I think it worked.

I'd almost like to hear the raw tracks just to get a feel for what you had to deal with. ( I know you probably can't so I'm not really asking )

..........................

Ok 6 listens later and I can start to hear that she magically has more breath in some spots, but man did you do a good job with it. Way to comp a vocal dude really. From a pain in your neck to little bumps on mine. Seriously If you were out here in my yard, you'd have a new client.

Well Mous, you certainly have the power to make a fellas day  although I just woke up and its 10 to 9 gmt.
I'll send you some audio clips of some out takes soon as my head is straight.
I did some of the tuning to the actual files...chopping words and then processing that section. Think it was destructive editing on some.
Thanks again for your kind words:)
