Right,

So I got Eddie to the North and Mike to the South, and I got to thinkin. Even though there is no substitute for Bubba's, we should have us a little Shindig no?

So right now, unless either Eddie or Mike wants to host. I'm thinking we could all assemble at this place called Rosotti's
it's right off 280 in Portola Valley. ( yeah I know suspiciously convenient for mous uh? :D ) However, maybe we should shake the tree and see who else is up in here before we set a locale. Timewise I'm thinking right after CaPE tracks are due. Although Eddie I know you have something coming up down South.

Any other Wombats in and around the SF Bay Area?

I can chillax in Portola Valley. I can chillax anywhere.

Various Recpit'ers used to live up here.

Grape's Evil Twin makes wine around here or something. Let's go to his house.

One hopes so.

The alternative doesn't bear thinking about... :Roll eyes:

Cheers,

PS. Must think about some kind of "south of the equator" gathering...

I think the OH front should knock something up at Put-in-Bay, this year.

Mostly because I'm stuck there all summer.

I'll be there July 4th weekend - look for me in the Roundhouse or the Barrel, I'll be the one less than sober...

Outside of the 4th, is there a particularly good weekend to head up that way?

SF Bay Area is my home town, although somehow I ended up in the northeast a few years ago. I still get to the Bay Area often though, and would love to try to make the get-together.

Yes of Course I meant the first major city South of SF!

Sorry about the coffee Bubba!

I'm totally into it.

"My place" is pretty damn small, if we're thinkin' of more than two or three people, although there's lots of space outside, and summer is coming!

Down in Portola would be fine with me... a good excuse to go drive Page Mill Rd.

I think Mandor is from up Sacramento way... maybe he'd come out.

BB... If you wanna come up, the flight is quick and cheap, but the drive also has much to recommend it: Hwy 33 to hwy 198 to hwy 25... the long way up through the middle of the Coast range. Just beautiful if you've never done it. Take about 8 hours.

Lets keep this idea on a front burner!

I'd say anything but since it's a fucking zoo on the hollie weeks.

Um.. anything is good between late May and early Sept.

Portola?

Let's stick to the beach side of them hills.

There's a nice little HA clubhouse in the Bay area I know about.

Fuck, how about Haight-Ashbury?

We can drink wine in the park and hassle hippies.

Careful... up here the coast typically involves fog and cliffs.

Portola is pretty much the high-rent district... typically sunny and warm. Very nice.

Now the Haight, on the other hand...

Yup, Don't get me wrong I LOVE the coast up here, but it's Heavy Sweater time there a good 80% of the time year round. Still if the guys coming form down State or outta state want to hang there. I'm all good with that!

While nothing will ever really kill the vibe of that place, the Haight is currently over run with yupsters and whiney rich kids from Marin pretending to be Hippies. Most of the real hippies are now just to the South of Grape. If we want really Old school SF color, I'd suggest The Mission, vibe for days. Or North Beach, Nobody has come close to fucking with their vibe for like the last 100 years.

Local Dudes, Is Alice's Restaurant still open up on Skyline?
That's an easy shot from the SJ Airport and Bubba really ought to check out the La Honda vibe. Grape and Eddie could both pretty much avoid the Freeway And we could slide down the back side if the weather was good and we wanted to hang at the beach.

Alice's Restaurant is still up there.

The only hitch might be that if its a sunny weekend, you can't get near the place for motorcycles.

Like the idea though. Them's my stompin' grounds: banana slug country.
