Hi all,
As you can read here (http://womb.mixerman.net/showthread.php?p=33220#post33220), I'm going in a new direction musically and (eventually) professionally. The very short version of the story is that I'm going to put some very serious effort into becoming a professional AE. If you want the longer story, hit the link.
Anyway, in order for me to get my chops up beyond the hack level that they are currently at, I'm going to need more than an old version of Cubase and a digital 4 track. So, after a significant amount of reasearch, this is what I've come up with for my shopping list for my new setup at home.
Please note that I won't a room in which to track drums, therefore drum mics are not really necessary at this point. I want this to be a good enough rig for me to really learn on and grow with, but at the same time, without breaking the bank completely.
Anyway, here's what I have in mind. For your reference, I've included links to the manufacturer's sites:
Apple iMac (http://www.apple.com/ca/imac/) (24" LCD / 2.16Ghz / 2GB RAM / 250 GB Superdrive)
Rocpro 250GB External firewire drive (http://www.rocstor.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Products.dspRocPro400AVk)
Logic Pro 7.2 (http://www.apple.com/ca/logicpro/)

Tascam FE-8 (http://www.tascam.com/Products/FE-8.html) 8 channel expansion for the FW-1884

Assorted decent stands, cables, etc.

Cheers,
