View Full Version : Help name my new boat.

Comte de St Germain
March 12th, 2007, 09:57 PM
I'm picking up a new boat and need a name.

Since I'm an audio guy with a penchant for fishing there's gotta be some good names out there that aren't as obvious as "Reel Time."

My wife won't allow "The Bearded Clam."

So have fun and you might win a free Low-Country excursion with The Comte.

Off the top of the ole bean:

"Sound .wav"

"Ms. Scaley"

"Tradin' Baits"

"The Hook"

& congrats on your new boat!

You should at least wait until I show you the finer points of fly-fishing in the salt.

It's not all tight loops of Deceivers and Clousers.

Last time out we released 6 redfish 24"-33", 7 decent trout, many bluefish, 2 flounder and too many lady fish all caught on a fly.

Shoot I'm getting antsy to get back out there.

Then again the Redfish spots are like strip bars right now.

Heh.

She's an 18.5 foot flats/nearshore boat. Kind of an interesting mix from my normal shallow water skiff and center console.

http://www.pioneerboats.com/html/cape_island.html

She's sea foam green and although i do a fair amount of riding big yachts to the pelagics this will do for inshore and family fun.

I'm about 5 hours away from you by highway.

Funny thing, my spots are so tidal that when is more imporatnt than where. You get 45-60 minutes a day at each one depending on the moon. And our tides are roughly 4-6 times what you're used to.

That Gulf swish is just weird.

What color is she?

:Coolio:

The Lake and Bays are nice.

Especially if you live in Florida and don't have a family.

She's sea mist green.

She drafts a lot more than I'd like but the offshore Captain I fish with loans me his Hewes anytime I want to go shallow.

To me this boat does a little bit of everything, she handles shallows well, is light enough to pole and can handle nearshore trips (pick your day) to the reefs around here pretty well. It's dry, doesn't slap like a flats skiff and makes me feel better about having the kids on board without getting into a 20ft center console. The nearshore capabilities will be nice on those calm days so i can take the kids bottom fishing (I got the numbers but don't really dig that stuff) which id fun for them.

I'm currently designing the poling platform which will have three rod holders (two low on the sides and one high middle) so i can troll a 5 rod spread by myself (with "side riggers"). It'd also work nice for Tarpon/shark/Jack fishing too. So, I got another couple grand to save before that hits, fortunately we're 2 months away from that season anyway.

FWIW it's the old Bone Boats hull that went away when Metarie LA was hit by Katrina.
