Teragon DualComp made me think of this))))
Don't you think, that quality of audio engineering on the "artist" side would increase if the devices (EQs, Compressors etc) would be given as a black box - no knob marks, no names on the knobs (or "soar" kinda)))) no indicators?
It would be pretty easy to fuck up things, but would probably stimulate creativity and :cough: unusual :cough: device applications)

It whould certainly increase the number of mixes done by actually listening to the sound/music/noise, instead of mixing by eyesight as I think is rather common in todays DAWinfested studios/bedrooms.

It's amazing than some good EQ pluggins were dismissed because the way they looked, or because no curve were visible.
The power of the mind is everything.
I remember that guy in Burbanks that made a fortune selling shyte because he designed a nice vintage GUI around is poorly coded recreations.
Some big DAW company bought his company back from him, probably to get rid of the annoyance of having to respond to his phonecalls.
His pultec sounded like a mackie eq in a fuzz box, but everyone was just raving about them because they were expensive at the time.

This topic was brought up in some EQ thread on the MiLAR forum.
I too think the GUI makes people hear things, just like the DAW makes people mix with their eyes.

Totally agree...
But than again the looks and dispositions of the controls on the tools often dictates how you use it: Think MiniMoog vs MiniPlugin (assuming they sound alike :Roll eyes: ) ...you will play differently on the two - and thus they will not work/sound/feel the same
GUI does make a difference and are a big part of a tool
...and a nice way to trick people into thinking the tool is better whan it is, so is the price of the tool!
