Hey.

A question for you Melbourne Mars.... uh... Wombians? Fetuses. Or those of you who work in Melbourne every now and then.

Metrop closed it's doors seemingly with no warning.

There's a lot of talk around JMC but that's what I think it is - talk.

Anyone with concrete info on what the hell happened there?

Just checked their website...

Not good...

Account suspended.

I would have expected them to ride out any business fluctuations due to having post-production ih-house as well as music recording, but in this business climate... :Uh oh:

How are the other large Melbourne Studios doing? I'm thinking of Sing Sing and maybe Gotham (if that still exists...)

Cheers,
Tim

Sing Sing is still alive. No idea about Gotham.

From what I hear Metrop has gone to liquidators.

If you call there I think you get the receptionist who gives you a mobile number - Ern's.

It's a real tragedy if it has gone the way of the Dodo...

A whole heap of history there...Armstrong's, AAV, then Metropolis.

Keep your eyes open for the fire sale...

Cheers,
Tim

We have one of Armstrong's old U47fet's, plus I'm sure a bunch of other mics from there - but the U47 is the only one with a giant "ARMSTRONGS" branded into the side!

We're just across the road, y'see - in what was the uh, Metrop 2 room or whatever it was - the Harrison room where they mixed Mad Max

No more Harrison... currently Control 24, hopefully that's being replaced with something else. The Harry was totally screwed, it was almost sad to see the state it was in.

Dunno - but we were all pretty surprised when we heard the news. They were letting JMC kids do work experience there, but then one day they just rang up and said "sorry, no more"... closed the doors and that was that.

Actually that reminds me of a conversation I had with a studio owner in.... er.... Victoria. This one line suddenly jumps out at me: "Everyone in Victoria's hurting at the moment".

Apparently so.

Judging by some recent conversations I've had, it ain't just Victoria... :Roll eyes:
