We took the Cougar out for a drive and we come across a yard/garage sale and low and behold... a 58 Champ for $40. Hehe. of course i got em down to $30.00.

I am gonna milk this thing for all that i can. I am seeing anywhere from 700 to 1500 bucks for this amp in SHITTY condition. Original speaker, decent tweed, not BAD condition compared to every other tweed Champ i have seen.

I am missing the fuse and clip so i cant test this. grrrr.. Probably needs new tubes and all that but i just wont know till I take it apart and probably destroy it in the process.

Suggestions, bitching, ranting, raving, robbery plots and trades/offers welcome.

Should i even attempt to power it up once i get the fuse or save it for a collector/restorer?

Chris, take it to Bruce Collins at Mission Amps in Thornton. He's a REALLY good amp tech and a great guy.

You'll want the filter capacitors replaced at a minimum before you fire it up...

Nice score!

Cheers, Tim

Dude... Las Palmas and it's closer. It doesn't have the fancy pants ambiance, but the food is better than either of those two.

Man, I've been away too long to remember where the good Mexican restaurants are. I always dug Senor Burrito in Denver, just off Broadway on 1st Ave (I lived a block west of there for a while), or Juanitas on Pearl Street just west of the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder...

But I pretty much always wondered where the good ones were, too!

Damn, I miss Colorado!!!

Cheers, Tim

ps- I'm gonna be in Fort Collins in July for an old roommate's wedding, maybe THIS time we can get together for a beer!

Cool score Ck!

I scored these really cool vintage mics from a guy Colorado...

a pair of Shure PE54D Unidynes III mics that absolutely slay on kik drums...

I guess what they say about coming around and going around. I just didn't think I'd score like that again. I got 8 of those mic's that was part of a deal with a PA for insane cheap. I gave you two, aardy two, my dad two, and i kept two. We're using two of em on a kit we have up right now. Kinda needed em for this kit, 12 mic's up total. Frickin Rockdart knows my mic collection and the asshole insisted I use my 409's on the toms. He knows we dont put those up for just any drummer to smash but I guess if we dont use em on his band, when would i use em. we ended up using the unidynes on a hat and one on the second snare. Not bad mic's to pic when doing drums. Never did try on kick. Will have to try it.

i've never gotten an amazing bargain, so congrats ck. a local friend of mine did get a prophet 5 from a church basement sale for something like 50 or 100 bucks, though. i couldn't hide my jealousy. and yeah, with ebay and the like these miracles are fewer and farther between.

and no, i don't know where the good mexican is near you.

Didn't the price of that amp make you just the slightest bit suspicious?

It's been bugged by the freemasons.

The guy you bought it from is in the skull & bones.

I advise you put it next to a marshall stack and hit a power chord. Give big brother tinnitus.

Seriously, good to see a working guy get a break.
I'd have been pissed if Donald Trump got it. And you know he would have talked the dude down to $20.

Only a freemason could afford 900 bucks for a one trick poney like a champ.

You're not rubbing it in. I'm happy for ya.

I got this for $250 20 years ago. Not quite as "collectable" as the one the guy wants $2,500 for, but not far from it. Note that the one that's been bid up to $930 still has 3 days left on the auction.
