I especially liked the jab at McCartney at the end!

Yeah, can't you actually hear him saying that?

Like that joke about how Kenny G walks into an elevator and says, "Man, this joint is ROCKIN'!"

Speaking of Kenny G, Pat Metheny doesn't like him very much:

Heh.. yeah. That's been out and about on the web since 2003 at the earliest, and it never ever gets old, does it?

He kind of has a point, too.

There's a Richard Thompson song on that suibject that you have to hear if you haven't done so already...

Speaking of which, at home I have thirteen month old twin daughters. When they nap during the afternoon or evening we leave a radio playing the local innofensive pap channel to givethem some masking noise for anything else that might disturb them.

A week ago they both woke up screaming about an hour into what should have been a two hour nap. I walked into their room and a Kenny G track was playing. I pointed this fact out to my wife and we both laughed at the coincidence.

Last night it happened again. My wife came out of the bedroom laughing because, guess what? Yup, Kenny G again.

Even my twin toddlers can detect when their sonic environment is being polluted by his noodlings.

There may be hope.

That was fuckin' awesome!

"A meeting of great minds, how nice,
Like Einstein and Sporty Spice,
Digitally fused in an abortion."

Thanks for that.

Yeah Fulcrum, I'd expect you to dig on that. Kinda puts the fear of God in me I tell you. When you think that cats like Oscar Peterson still fucking practice 6 hours a day just because they believe it's important. Fills me with the loathing of my own technique and makes me question my own musical sincereity and values, a very good thing.

Ggunn, thanks for putting that up. It's the first time I've seen it.

Haha that's the first time I saw that.

But ya know.... I don't know why he's so choked about it. Talent or tact has never had anything to do with the popular music business.

From the clubs that hire based on song list or sales pitch up to the Britneys being mass marketed based on titty flappings, it's the same old shit. Good playing has never had fuck all to do with gigging or selling records.

However it's good to see someone in his position call bullshit on the idiot.

Cos.

I'd rep ya for that but it seems I need to spread some more love around first.

That song is worthy of Tom Lehrer, and higher praise than that I cannot muster. Brilliant stuff from a brilliant songwriter and an even more brilliant player.
