Haven't tried amphibia for that but I was able to get quite similar results with AM Track for that. To be honest, I kinda cheated - I took Chrisj's tests with his mp3 clips and raw files and tweaked them until I got the closest match and that sounded pretty cool as a starting point and from there you can tweak on. Gave me also a better match and nicer and more open sound than for instance PSP Vintage Warmer does.
So, yeah, in my opinion, you can use Samplitude's plugs for that. Basically, I am going to get UAD and Duende to offload most of the plugs from my CPU and insert AMTrack on almost every track for tape simulation pretty much like Chaz does... we'll see how it goes :)
