Fuckety fuck.
I'm trying to get the Neutrik Patch Label software to work for me but as anybody who've tried to use it knows that this hopeless excuse of a program sucks donkey dick with a vigour only previously known to keytar players and I'm fucking sick of it.
Soooo, just wondering if anybody knows a way to get a few proper patchbay labels printed without getting an ulcer, I'm open to suggestions. Except if you play keytar.
Oh, by the way, nice place. Everybody looks new, but somehow strangely familiar...

I tried all the regular 'patch bay labeling systems', then settled for god ol' Excel. Of course, if you have a 48x48 mini-plug system, this might be more difficult, but this worked for me. PM me if you want the template (sized for a 24x24 bay) that I used. Here's a Pic of what mine looks like:
P.S. I printed these suckers out then used rubber cement to attach them to the patchbay and mixer as shown in the pic. Rubber cement is great, because you can easily rub it off if it causes a problem, yet it holds great.

...and oh yeah...I DON'T play keytar. I do have one (a Yamaha KX-5 remote), but I haven't played it since the 80s....I'm still looking for someone to silk-screen some blue flames on to the thing (shown flat-black in the following photo):

i re-did mine yesterday. added some new gear so it was time to get all the labeling up to date and pretty. you are correct, nobody has anything useful to do the job. i did it on my mac with a spreadsheet program from neo office, which is freeware from the unix folks. i had to asjust the sizing to work with my patchbays, also neutrik. they came out great, and look identical to what mandor posted.

Here's the template:
P.S. The forum software doesn't like .xls files. Download the attached file and rename to patchbay_template.xls.
enjoy!
PPS. Shit...the forum software doesn't like .xls attachments. PM me if you want the template.

I can't read anything that small, so I took a single space rack filler and stretched a piece of board tape across it and did it by hand, much like the pic at the bottom of the page here.
If I ever rearrange it, it's just a matter of another piece of tape.
I likey. Simple.

6x,
I've got an .xls file which is set up for ADC 96 point bantam bays.
Give a holler if you want it.
Cheers,
Tim

You can probably .zip the spreadsheat and post it that way.

Cheers for the input everybody!
It's a Neutrik 24x2 1/4" plug patchbay so I think your template, Mandor might very well do the trick for me.
Check your PM's!

Done. If anybody else wants it, just let me know. Which begs a point: ADMINS: Any way we can adjust the forum software to allow other types of attachments (and I can see that there are reasons for NOT doing this)? I tried Bob's .zip idea too, but no dice.

I just wanna chime in to say that I have also made some nice patch labels in my day using Microsoft Excel. It just takes a bit of trial-and-error to get the sizes right. Of course, this was at work; my patch panel in my home studio is still unlabeled :Uh oh:

I did the same thing....
I spent 3 lunch hours labeling for all my stuff, emailed the spreadsheet home... and accidentally deleted the mail message.
I need to be able to afford the wiring first....
