It would be nice to know how many nationalities we have here in the Womb. And how many languages we can speak or understand. Wouldn't that be good for travel tips, language questions, general info and what not?

Nationality: USA
Passport says: USA
Speaks: English
Can understand (in order of fluency): Spanish, Italian
Have visited these countries:
Canada, Mexico, Portugal, France, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Curacao, The Bahamas, China (Hong Kong) and India

Actually, my passport is getting a little worse for wear. It's got 2 more years left of validity, but only about 1 page left for stamps. Was out of the country twice this year (UK and Venezeula), and I've got plans for two more "out of country" experiences for next year. Not bad, considering (and I think I've got this right - heard it on a news program not too long ago) only 34% of US residents even have a passport!

But, and this goes for all who've posted similarly, what does your passport really say?

It's a serious question.

'Cause it seems to me that there's no one word meaning citizen of the USA. And since "America" refers to two entire continents, then "American" doesn't, technically, narrow it down very much.

Yeah yeah, I know what you think you mean, I'm just interested in finding out if there's an actual legitimate term.

So what does the passport really say? "USAian"? "Citizen of USA"?

emtou2u

Countries where I've been kicked out of the water by police in the middle of the night while skinny-dipping with two amazingly beautiful people:icon_eek: : Mexico...it's a long but very funny story...

Yup...you're right. I have gotten busted by my wife (she's South American) before on this, so when ever anybody asks my nationality (it's a little easier in written form), I make sure to put in "USA". If they ask me in verbal form, then I reply "I'm Californian" :)

The operative question here: how many of those who replied and who have visited Sweden did so because Otek lives there?

The operative question here: how many of those who replied and who have visited Sweden did so because Otek lives there?

Our first time in Sweden was because the wife had a research paper to give a talk on in Stockholm. Then 2 years later a talk to give in Bergen Norway. But then this year Sweden and Finland was to meet up with Wombies, Otek being one.

On a related passport oddness. The wife works for part of CDC (Centers for Disease Control), so when she gives a work paper she is traveling on official US business. This means that she has two passports a personal one, and a government one that gives her limited diplomatic privileges. She has to turn the special one back in at the end of the trip.

Stupid arsed get that I am, I forgot to say that I've (dis)graced the USA with my presence, well Seattle anyway. I had to spend a jet-lagged week at the Micro$lothed HQ for my sins, well, actually for being the only employee who could get into the USA without a visa when they had to send a delegate to a conference...

I went on such short notice that the only flight I could get was via Amterdam. Yeah, the wrong way around the World with a twelve hour layover on the way back. The flight from hell :)
