The thing I also noticed that almost all the albums in the 2000's are compilations of older artists....I never count compilations on lists like these....to me an album is all original work, not greatest hits...

We researched and listened and agonized until we had a list of the greatest and most influential records ever - and then everyone complained because there was no Pink Floyd on it. And that's exactly how it should be.

Well, ya know... Pink Floyd weren't very influencial, and they never really sold any records. And they never put a cohesive album together. So, yeah, I can see why it makes sense to exclude them from the list.

I mean, really. Eminem kicks Pink Floyd's ass!

... and pigs can fly.

Well, not quite ALL, but damn close. They DO manage to get PJ Harvey's Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea, which really does belong on any such list, but other than that their "2000's" list is a fucking joke. They have a couple of hip hop albums, but they all suck, and Kanye West? Give me a fucking break! Also, did anyone else notice that they have Elvis (via compalations) in the 90's and 2000's, but NOT in the 50's? WTF! And no Elvis Costello?

As for Pink Floyd, I'm not a fan, but even I know you can't have any kind of list like that without Pink Floyd.

But hey, fuck the classic and influential original albums, we've got 9 compilations (most of which are out-of-print) to tell people about!

Beastie Boys make the list, but no Police?

Lists like these are designed to create controversy, stir up debate. I'm not going to debate. The list rots. Seriously, the 2000s are a complete JOKE. COMPILATIONS?!?!?!?!?

Once every blue moon, or so, some carbuncle puts together one of these lists that are egregiously omissive, apropos of pretty much nada and have the distinct scent of bias dripping off of them. If this was in Rolling Stone or some other fashion catalogue, it'd be of no import. Clownshow rags like that NEED this sort of twaddle to pretend they're something more than a pack of ads for the pierced and tattoed shopping mall set.

For Time magazine, this is unforgivable.

Smatter, guys? All the really good writers get killed in a bus crash in Guatemala?

That list is a disgrace. I mean, most of these lists are at best subjective, if not downright biased, but what the hell is the criteria for this one? Biggest sellers? Nope. Most influential? HELL no.

Although I did get a kick out of the token Miles and Coltrane records...

phooey,
