This was posted over in the Womb Uni, I thought that it would be VERY useful to read for the guys here.

Namely in things like acoustics in venues - take what this guy is saying about how cold and hot air bends waves - apply that to the hot air generated by people and the cold air in the roof of the venue, and you can see how sound can be made to "bend" (and travel further) just by filling a room with sweaty teenagers (I remember having that explained to me at a soundcheck for the Darkness by a dV-DOSC system tech, but I never really understood the reason WHY it happened until now).

Also there's some interesting stories in there about Roswell, weather balloons, the cold war, nuclear bombs etc...

Well worth watching (it's quite long, make sure you have an hour or so free).

If you're trying to move a coherent wave front along a stable air mass, the state of that air when that wave front reaches it dictates how it moves, to some degree.

Get enough mitigating factors going and the desk runs out of knobs.
