J.G.

Hellohhhhhhhhhhhh fellow, and fellette Wombians,
As Team Silk managed a 2-fer-one deal this time 'round, we thought we'd join the previewer-ranks and share the wares with you all in this wee time-out.
We had some fun producing this lil ditty and I raise my vino to all the axes swung in the making of it, with particular kudos to Big Al and his stellar knob-chops.
Here's a rundown of the slightly tweaked team line up:
SONGWRITERS: Music: Jdubb, Lyrics & Melody: J.G.
MIXER: PSN Big Al
ALL VOX: J.G.
KEYBOARDS: PSN Big Al
GUITARS: Special guest PSN Mike Bolan, (cheers, Mike!)
TRUMPET: Clicktrack
BASS: Kingkai
DRUMS: LoveDrums
And what would a show be without some visuals?

CAPE-A-BILITIES
You sign up ready, to put your whole soul into
This magical, musical thing that they do
Then comes selections, a bunch o' names you don't know
It's internet-song-"rulette"-gamblin' win, place, NO-SHOW (Team Toaster is here)
And then into each Skype (Hello, hello)
A lil ring must call, (How ya answer this thing?)
You got to set it up right (I had the mute button on again)
Or you're set up for a fall
May you don't got no headset (Don’t speakers work?)
Maybe you don't got the knack (Whatchyou talkin’ bout, Willis?)
Maybe you're OK with messages
Or maybe you just like to slack
There ain't no way for your team to know (Ain’t no way, ain’t no way)
'Cause you got no voice in the co-llective telephone (Mmmhmmm)
Your team is waitin', (Tick tock)
The timeline is fadin' (Tick tock)
Baby, get thee online, waste no more time
Now we all know these people
Yeah, we all know the style
Talkin' big at the start line (yeah I got all the shit, man)
Built for speed, not for miles (but I’ll be away next month)
But Cape ain't about one big banana
It's about how sweet the bunch
And if folks sign up and jam out
Well it's just less tasty a lunch
You hear the stories, about the trainwrecks and tracks, (Oh yes we have)
"Trees for the forest", you count your blessings and backs (Well I got yours)
Or maybe you got a princess (NO!),
Throwin' fits and typin' CAPS (Mmmmm)
Maybe you got no incense, or better smoke to calm your ass
Then there's that chance that you found yourself on a team, (and the angels sing)
Soooo hip the pants that it seems like you've always been (Ohhhhhhhhhhh)
Friends, maybe brothers, (Uhhhuhh), there ain't no other, way left to beeeeeeeeeeeeee
Cape-Abililities, (you got, you got), etc, etc...

BTW: from the forum main page, the title of this thread reads "Team Silk Pulls Out..."
I thought "damn...I wonder why they had to pull out?
So your song was a double treat.

fellete Wombians,
That sounds vaguely obscene.
Loved the song, and as a soulless, rhythmless assclown I am not a big fan of the blues, so that's saying something.
PSW Big Al, props for the blues organ. Precisely the style I can't play in, so I listened hard. I bow, man.
I recognize that trumpet. Tasty stuff Click.
Bass and drums right in the pocket where they ought to be. Cool guitar, neither too much nor too little. Just right.
JG, you floor me with those vocals.

Actually, I know why Silk had time to do a 2nd song.
Apparently they had a ring-in.
Team Res has the proof, and all will be revealed in due course.

I look forward to your so-called "proof" sir!
In the meantime, just look over here, directly
into the lava lamp ... now ... concentrate...

J.G., and the rest of you Silkies,
Talk about takin' a little steam off this pressure-cooker time...When J.G. sings, you can see her, and she looks as fine as she sounds...a wonderful story-tellin' talent ya have there, along with STELLAR PIPES!!!
The blues organ held my hand the whole song through, bass kept me goin', and the guitar spanked me like the dawg I am!
Great job...thanks!

a toast to this song - and THANK YOU for giving us a "hit" while we are in the waiting room....just the right thang to tide us all over...
(Grapestomper...it's kind of like getting to pick 1 present on Christmas Eve...don't you think?)
let's start at the end....J.G. love the laugh...the vox, yum yum...
blues is one of my favorites...and this is really something...the organ, drums, guitars, clickT...everything!!!
and everyone has said it already...but J.G. on your own or with this amazing team...i could sit around and listen to you sing the dictionary...
absolutely stunning!

We have this music quiz show in OZ, Spicks and Specks, where the contestants have to sing to a tune using passages from books and the teams have to guess what the song is...
There was one, the book was a lawn mower repair manual, can't remember the tune, but it was too funny...
Here is a sample with Darren Hayes http://youtube.com/watch?v=54vwtZkWweQ
Maybe a theme for a future CaPE???

Al, this is one of the best mixes I heard lately, regardless of the genre... envisioning a career in mixing maybe? Hmmm? Watch out, Charles!!! :very happy:
As for the song itself... where did I ever taste that cocktail of comedy lyrics, outstanding singing including cross-gender impersonation and overall goodhearted poetry? Oh yeah, that's it... in JG's kitchen! But this one takes the cake, I mean the cape, people... we got an anthem!! Or at least let's make it mandatory audio-FAQ listening for all CAPE participants.

Thanks so much man...high praise indeed. I was just glad to
be a part of everything and make some music for a change as
opposed to a lot of the corporate/institutional/dialogue work I
usually do (boring but it pays really well.)

TubaSolo's right. If Team Womb gave a theme song for the board & show, Team Silk just gave us a Theme song for CAPE.
"Nice work!" from a guy who loves the blues! (Unlike my teammate Fulcrum).

Heheh, that's hilarious, Scodiddly, as the pic is me, and I did play bass for some years--but I always chalked up the shoulder deal to the mastodon-sized purse I carried with me in highschool in the 80's...

Being a Silkster Has truly been a Gas! This tune was championed by Al & JG. How could we say no??? Besides, I'm an all day sucker for a well played B3 and this one WAS played well !
And that VOICE.!!!! Words fail me to describe the feelings.. Warm Fuzzies indeed!!
As for my small part in this, I owe it all to two fingers and a thumb on Al's left hand and I think his big left toe. :D
Thanks for ride folks,
