Here is a song that was posted on that other site and has been remixed with attention to the suggestions given. We have replaced the loop drums with Archtop on drums (thank you Archtop for your contributions).

There are some core, fundamental timing problems in this mix. Try something: after the intro, select the entire bass track and slide it FORWARD by almost 20 milliseconds.

The keyboards on the right and clean electric guitar on the left are also way behind. The drums and vox are together though.

There is a strange, bizarre reverse attack to the bass...almost sounds like a compressor set way wrong.

The bass is also strangely out front, in a completely different sonic space than everything else.

You've got some sliding around to do. It may actually come together.

I just went over to the MARSH, to my old forum where you posted the first version of this to give it a listen. I am not sure what happened but the whole thing fell apart going to version 2. The drums are not a problem, but they may be flown in to the wrong spot. (see previous post).

I don't want to talk down on anyone, but there really wasn't any issue at all with your stereo spread...horses for courses, and all that. I agree that the vox should be front-and-center...but you went and tore down the house to fix a leaky faucet.

Even I can hear that... :icon_eek:

Great drums though!

It really never glued together on this pass, and the rythym messes with the whole...so...

I'm re-tracking the bass and keys, to the drums, and take it from there.

I dig what I'm hear as far as the tune itself goes, and of course, the SINGIN'.

Lookin' forward to tasting the re-do.

Ok, guess I need to clear my name.

I'm the one that spewed the worthless blather about the stereo image with the vocals. Allow me an explaination. I was preparing to take delivery of a larger console that precipitated a total move of the studio. I was running on my backup system which is adequate but nothing to brag about. Up until that day, it had been working just fine. Unbeknownst to me, something went amiss and my stereo spread was jacked to all hell. Your submission was the first thing I heard that day and I didnt catch my anomaly until the next day when all hell was breaking lose in the swamp. Suffice it to say I couldn't get back to that post once the dust settled to correct my previous statement. I have learned a valuable lesson from this in that I will be checking my setup first before I speak out on a critique. I feel responsible for the problems that have occured and wish I could repair the damage. I hope you will accept my appologies.

FWIW, I like the improvements made with Archtops drum track and pulling back the 'guitar hits'.

Hey, the great thing about opinions is that they are so rare...there's only about 6 billion to go around. If an opinion "kicks you in the box" and forces a re-evaluation...that's a good thing, right? If nothing else is learned, perhaps the fact that you ought to trust your own vision and hold a steady rudder...

...or not...

Hmmm, the gat still needs to be nudged ahead more, and I personally would bring the volume down a smidge too.

Yer welcome, Stoner,

But alas, my volume comment on the guitar is coming from a non-guitar-player.

(A noodler, yes, but--)...

am i on crack or is the Snare not centered? or is it being pulled left by the hat track?

Pulled left by the stereo pair of overheads. Do you think I should adjust for that by pulling the snare track harder right? Should it not appear slightly left or right in the stereo field or should it line up with the kik and bass on center?:Uh oh:

oh...for a song like this i would park them dead center- but thats just me. I just wanted to make sure the crack had worn off!! :very happy:

Thanks for the interest. I will listen to this again, make some changes and repost it for you. Change can be a good thing.
I may re-record the git's for timing got messed up by inserting the drums after the fact. may just slide them in time.
Should probably just move on. Paintings dont usally come out very well when you try to wash off what you previously did cause you did'nt like the color.
We'll see.
