CAPE 6 : Songwriters signup thread
http://womb.mixerman.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=3195&stc=1&d=1190467733It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why...(famous songwriter talks about one of his new songs)

Welcome all songwriters !
We're guessing you have read the Cape 6 announcement thread, if not, you must read it HERE (http://womb.mixerman.net/showpost.php?p=76604&postcount=1)
before you sign up. You must also read these specific songwriters guidelines :
CAPE 6 SONGWRITERS GUIDELINES :
Songwriters must first sign up in this thread. They must copy/paste this :
I accept and I agree to follow the CAPE Guidelines and the SONGWRITERS Guidelines.and place it in their post to sign off on the terms of participation (see below) and guidelines
IF YOU DON'T, YOUR SIGNUP WILL NOT BE VALID
Once that is done, each songwriter will get access to a private forum, visible only to the following members :
- other songwriters with a valid Cape 6 signup ;
- Cape 6 producers once they have been selected ;
- Womb admins & Cape Committee members.
Each songwriter will submit a maximum of 2 songs which will be made available for Cape producers and Cape teams. At least 1 song needs to be submitted by Sat October 6th.
These songs can be simple vox with piano or guitar or full blown demos. Whatever 'sells' the song.
If no songs are submitted by October 6, the signup will be void.
Songwriters will post their songs (attached - not embedded - as mp3) in the private Cape Songwriters forum.
DO NOT POST YOUR SONG(S) IN THIS THREAD.
The public will only see the songs selected by the producers at the Team reveal on October 27, 2007. It is very possible that not all songs willl be selected. It is also likely that several producers will want to use the same song. That is fine. However, we can't guarantee that a songwriter who also signs up as a musician will be working on his/her own song. As a matter of fact, unless a producers requests it we will try to avoid it. Don't submit songs if you can't stand the idea of anyone but yourself re-interpreting them. However, the songwriters will retain all rights on their work, no matter how different the produced result is from the original submission.
The only provision here concerns the lyrics : songs may be re-structured, cut down, and modified to suit the production best. However, any lyric re-writes or add-ons will have to get the songwriter's OK. We will encourage producers to get in touch with the songwriters before they make their final selections.

4. If after 1 (one) year I want to make any changes to this Agreement, I may submit a writing requesting changes to: wombadmin@mixerman.net
5. Unless I request changes to this Agreement (see 4 above) the right to air (see 3 above) will automatically continue.

8. I agree to hold harmless CAPE Administrators and Mixerman Multimedia Inc. for any and all eventualities of my voluntary participation in CAPE.
This concludes the Songwriters Guidelines.
Remember this is a game. We'll say it again : don't sign up and submit songs if you cannot stand the concept of someone else nursing your precious craft.
CAPE 6 is about putting the songs above everything else. Those whose songs will be picked should be rewarded in spades.
What if your song isn't picked ? Well...better luck next time. It's like that everyday for ALL songwriters out there, and we are sure you are aware.
There it is folks ! I raise my glass to a succesfull Cape and I am eagerly looking forward to hear the resulting songs !
Let the games begin !
