Well that sucks. It looks like no is going to submit for 2 months in a row (myself included).

The one for August was just too weird for me and I never got around to doing the Bond one.

Is there a a new assignment for October?

I wrote a great Bond tune a few years ago but it didn't fit the criteria and I never finished it. However, I have finished one track that whilst also not fitting the criteria I shall post just so we can have something in the thread.

But wait.
Our hero looks on as he has just disposed of one villain and now he is approached by another. And she's barely wearing anything. Sweet money, penny!
Perhaps he ...

Or perhaps my buddy Mingus and I are doing a track for this month, but due to some of my personal issues and attending delays, well, IF, IF, IF, I can help do it, we intend to post a 'bond' song. Yes late. Yes bond song.

I'm shaken but not stirred.

So, my pal George wrote this.
And it is AWESOME (despite my bass playing).

Also, he wins the award for most procrastinated submission (yet).

Give a listen.

Please tell your friend George this song is FANTASTIC!!!
Love it.

Wonderful/inventive lyrics that capture the tone, nice instrumentation, arrangement, and changes that reflect a cinematic piece. I wasn't wild about (some) of the synth bleeps/boops, but the strings and orchestral percussion worked nicely and effectively to convey the tone. Kudos.

Love the stanza:

"I haven't spared any expense
that simply wouldn't make sense
nor would I stradle the fence
when dispensing with you."

... the "golden finger gun" is pretty funny too.

Best,

Hey Webs, where's our damn lyrics? Really everybody, I swear, we have a Bond song . . . . . . . . . .

OK everyone,

I swear we have a bond song too.
Facts are: mingus cut guitar tracks (in one take) way back.
He nailed all his parts, and they rock.
Me: I nailed everything (except vocals) way back and I have been struggling as a lyricist ever since. It's a cool idea and I didn't want to pay it lip service. George has upped the ante and I now need to provide something, though I can't beat the stanza I quoted earlier... damn that's good@!...

Summary: my friend Mingus rocks. Me, I have some work to do.
Hoping to be the best last submission...

Completely awesome. I loved it a lot. I'd buy it. Reminds me of Firewater a lot. I love Firewater.

... the other really clever things George did was his use of "bomb" and "bond," "yet" and "jet." Well-placed rhymes.

... but what really got me was the delay of the word "time" at one point as a vehicle to set up the listener expectation and ... then... it ...didn't happen.... until the end of ... "you're wasting my... every catchphrase, every punchline, I don't think so, not this TIME"

Very clever. Great lyric writing.

I've heard an unconfirmed rumor that the Mingus and Webs Bond song may be close to being released. Stay tuned!

Alas, that rumor has turned out to be false. It's not close to being released... it IS being released... right this moment!

In keeping with my intent on winning the award for "most procrastinated submission"... Mingus and I agreed that "even though we were COMPLETELY done with this song last August (yes, weeks BEFORE the monthly challenge was even announced), I just let it remain unreleased so I could win the award. :Roll eyes:

So without (further) delay...

Wow.
Cool song.
I have no idea what the fuck those changes are, but they cool.

I declare you & George as "winners" - - mine won't hold a candle, I'm afraid (though part of me is looking at this as a challenge; hey, a challenge, almost like the title of this forum).

Great song guys.

Thanks for the kind words, and yes, the chord chart for this one is a bit messed up.

Due to us having missed a prior challenge, which required a tempo change and the use of the tri-tone, we opted to use those parameters in addition to the ones for the Bond challenge. So, in essence, this song is two challenges rolled into one.

I think it turned out pretty good and I hope the rest of you enjoy it as much as we did making it. The general concept of these challenges pushing us as songwriters really materialized for me on this one. It wasn't easy and it took us to places we would otherwise never have been able to go, which is very cool and precisely the point of all of this. In addition, Webs is a great collaborator, overall musician, singer and engineer.
