I'm looking for some production/ mixideas on this one. Particualry in the last section. We kept it long because I figured we would do some freaky shit at the end. Maybe not!

i know i'm not addressing your questions re mix but an obvious question to me is why the title "Last Chance" and not "Breathe In"? if i walk away from this song the chorus stays with me - but not the title in any way.

then IMVVHO, the vox lose interest for me and the emotion tapers around 3:16, at 3:39 the song starts to become too long without the "freaky shit" happening earlier than it currently does. i like the instrumentation at the end - i just found myself cruisin' other threads and not wanting to listen again, again, again, again, again, again, again....

please - this is my .01 - humbly submitted.

in general i liked the song and could hear it in my head long after it stopped playing.

Thanks for the reply. Well the song is called "Last Contact" but your right breathe is the more memorable line. The end part is long because I wanted to fade out when it felt right and would most likely loose the vocal because as you mentioned we have heard it enough and it gets too repetetive. The band didn't really have and ending for the song so I thought it best to track it long and have them build in energy so we can have some fun. Maybe that was a bad idea.

I would tend to agree that the name of this song is Breathe In.... But be that as it may...

I would like the guitars to hit harder in the chorus. Bigger transition from the verse to the chorus. It just kinda falls into the chorus as it is now. There's no real build up of any tension. have the guitars hit harder there. harmony buildup. something.....

I would try to find some element to add to the second verse that differenciates it from the first. Add a synth arpeggieated loop, or BGV, or another guitar line opposite the main riff, organ, something. Something to keep the curiosity up for the listener.

then try something to change up the third verse/bridge altogether. maybe a half-time feel, or a breakdown of some sort, guitar/vox only i.e. the intro, a gradual build up of layers... just throwin out some ideers. you could really create some tension before the big, guns-a-blazin finish.

As it stands now it's kind of a lot of the same. I would also agree that the song is pretty much over by 3:30. Not really sure what you could do to keep attention span up for another minute.

It's got the poteintial to be really great. a couple little tweaks and you could really take it to the next level....

Well here is an updated version. We added a Fender Rhodes and some moog synth at the outro. The outro was also shortened quite a bit and treated differently. How are we sitting at this point?
