I almost shit myself laughing when read on Apple's Discussion Forum that some troll is complaining that Logic has no ringtone capabilities for the iPhone, while GarageBand now does.
Yes, I bought Logic Studio so that I could make ringtones with it. Because it can't, it's no longer a pro application.
Wait a minute... could this be Slippy in disguise?

Whats with people that have these retarded songs as ring tones??? they're all distorted and sound like shit.
I asked my friend if his phone had a regular fcking RING and he couldnt produce me one.
so we're going to sample my mother in laws Mountain Bell phone from the 70's. Yes, it still works.
I hate ring tones worse than i do cell phones. no one wants to hear your piece of shit distorted song and ESPECIALLY IF IT"S AN ORIGINAL.

I'm one of those ring-tone people. I have the guitar riff from "And Your Bird Can Sing" on mine and oddly enough, the honky guitar sound doesn't suffer all that much.
The good thing is that I can HEAR it most of the time, and I can always.... always tell that the phone's for me. And it makes me bob my head in glee everytime I hear it.

Yeah I get where you're going Jord, and that type of behavior is a PITA, But while they do have a terrible down side, I think some of them must be appreciated as a separate craft. I mean the resolution is SO low it's kind of a art to get some of these tunes to "read" particularly if the have significant polyphony.
It not unlike designing visual icons. You can't just take an image, plop it into photoshop, reduce the size to 10px X 10px and expect a "readable" icon. You have to to tweak. Some of the "tones" I've heard clearly had had such attention.
Still again that does sound like Trollishness

unbelieveable. actually.......nevermind, id believe it :Roll eyes:
as for ringtones though, i was mega annoyed by those crappy user made monophonic tones that were in between regular ringing and polyphonic midi/audio ringtones. but im cool with the mp3/wav etc ones now. when i hear "fucking hostile" go off on my phone, i get a pretty fucking sure hint that its my phone and not the old lady sitting next to me's phone

What galls me is the ringtones that are for LEASE (I'm on Sprint--that's all there is). No, thanks.

If anything iS is a guru in his own right. I don't know if that means that he sits on a hilltop smoking (insert your choice of smoking product here) sporting a fake (insert nationality of choice) accent, but he composes symphonic pieces that are IMHO awesome. Perhaps, he'll do what apple.censorship.com won't allow: share his compositional techniques in Logic.
Indeed welcome, iS!

You are too kind jord!
I smoke menthols (these days, Camels) and the occasional cigar. Mountain top living? Well, not exactly... I live on the top of a hill (micro-mountain? mountain-lite? perhaps it could be called a drumlin...) but the lofty peaks from which erudite men of wisdom look down upon the townsfolk and, over snifters of venerable cognacs opine that all is right with the world, everything is in its place and [BLUDGEON!]
Right, where was I? Oh yes. And I often try to speak with a British accent (though my British wife tells me that after 7 years of marriage I still don't quoite get it roight). And my music? Well, that's the true me, and thanks for noticing jord!
I'd be happy to share some of my compositional techniques here (more like techniques for realizing orchestral parts with sample libraries), but you guys will probably think I'm nuts for all of my nitpickiness. But sure, can do.
Glad to be here. :Coolio:

And to think, here I was expecting you to say that you enjoy a nicely stoked bong along with a healthy diet of mushrooms, and have a thick Newfoundland accent that no one, including your wife, understands. :D
Oh well...
