Could anyone help me further understand the difference between these two sets of DigiMAX Preamps:
PreSonus DigiMAX FS 8 Channel Microphone Preamp (http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?ItemPos=3&TempID=4&STRID=23035&Method=2&CategoryID=0&BrandID=0&PriceRangeID=0&PageNum=0&DepartmentID=0&pagesize=10&SortMethod=4&SearchPhrase=digimax&Contains=%2Adigimax%2A&Search_Type=SEARCH&GroupCode=)
PreSonus Digimax LT 8 Channel Mic Preamp (http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?ItemPos=4&TempID=5&STRID=23035&Method=2&CategoryID=0&BrandID=0&PriceRangeID=0&PageNum=0&DepartmentID=0&pagesize=10&SortMethod=4&SearchPhrase=digimax&Contains=%2Adigimax%2A&Search_Type=SEARCH&GroupCode=)
I'm wondering how worth-the-money the uprgaded version would be.
ANY TIPS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!
Thanks.

I love that statement :
" Hybrid design incorporates noise shaping to virtually remove audio band jitter. "
LMFAO.
The problem is that reading this, as well as the statement about getting 8 X CLASS A pres for less than 600 $ is a bit suspicious if you consider getting serious infos on the product.
As it seems impossible to actually rely on what they are saying in these description, I would rather rely on an educated opinion on the subject. I have a friend who had one of these product and that is very educated. I'll try to call him or mail him and get back to you.

Just got off the phone with my buddy. He didn't go for that in the end, but he thinks the LT is a bit better.
I wouldn't make a decision on this advise alone. I hope some other will chime on this.
FWIW, I think you should make some research on Rane pres as well.
Let's be honest, you won't have great quality if you put like 80-90$ a chanel.
On the other hand, putting like 200-250$, you would end with some serious contender.
Are you ready to double the stake ? are you really in need of 8 channels, or would you be better with 4 and expand later ?
Those are the real questions.
If you chose to put a bit more, I might be able to help you more

Well...both links bring you to a page with specs and features. I can't imagine there is a big difference in the audio quality between them but I have not used both. I think the main difference might be the interface capablilties more than anything.
Your question is vague. Give us some idea of what you want to do with these...what are your needs...(musical only please..hehehehe)
I will move this to another forum in hopes of some more questions and answers for you.
Cheers,

From what I can tell from the basic specs, is that the FS 8 does 24bit/96K sample rates and the LT 8 only does 24bit/48k. The irony is that the 96k unit is actually $200 cheaper, but personally, I would find the front xlr inputs to be extremely fucking annoying, but then, we have a snake going directly to our console as well, so it might actually be more convenient for you. Also, on the LT they have an "enhance" switch which basically cuts 3 dB between 250 Hz and 5kHz. Think smiley face EQ here. Woo hoo. That's what the world needs.... More shitty eq-destroying buttons.
That and the LT only has lightpipe output as well... no in's. You'd always be mixing ITB. The pads and phase switches might come in handy however...
Personally, it looks to me like the LT is trying to be an "all in one" box, where as, for the less expensive model, it has a lot more going for it; higher resolutions, adat ins and outs... What's it sound like? I have no idea. I think you really need to look at how you plan on using these, if you mix ITB or if you want to squirt some signal to a desk, if you print at 48k or 96k, and how important one of these boxes might be to you.
Hope you found this a little helpful...
