I remember a thread somewhere else where you mentioned you had picked one up as a bass amp and were really happy with it after using it a couple of times. Now that you have had more time with it, what are your thoughts?

At the time I had been looking at picking up an alternative to my SVT rig, and now that I got this cover band gig, it became a necessity. So I went to banjo center and plugged a PB into a used SWR workingman's 1x10 cab they had and was impressed by both. As quiet as this band is, this is more than enough sound for now so I grabbed both for just over 200 bucks. I can sling the whole damn rig over my shoulder! I'm going to be on the lookout for another cab too, but this little 1x10 was kicking in the store!

Correction, it's the working pro cab...the whole package comes in und 40 lbs...YES!!

I might buy some Ampeg grille cloth though and make it look, well, not so modern....it just isn't my thing.

I've been gigging with it for a month now, and it's still pleasing me greatly! I initially ran it through my 2x10 Steel Sound cab, but it's a 4 ohm cab and the thing wants to see 8 ohms in bridged mono mode. It cut out briefly a few times on me (thermal protection?) so I started using my 8 ohm single 15 cab. I kinda prefer the tens, but this still sounds pretty good to me.

I could concievably run it in stereo into both cabs, but I'm too damn lazy to carry both cabs to a gig!

Cheers, Tim

Thanks for the feedback, I am looking forward to testing this in a real world situation.

I occurred to me that I might use it for recording too. I typically go direct, but I could also run a line to the PB and crank the gain for some fuzztone and blend it in. I played with that sound a bit last night, but I had my 3 year old in the room with me trying to wrestle my Ric out of my hands, so I couldn't really listen to it and judge if the sound would be worth a shit or not.

I have heard complaints that the speaker emulation circuit in it sucks. Don't know, myself, but apparently there's a work-around. Note that I'm just cut'n'pasting this, don't know if it's worth doing:

"The weird patch bypass thing: If you've read the Harmony Central reviews,
then you're familiar with the thing about running a patch cord out of the
line-out and back into the CD inputs to bypass an internal speaker emulator
(sensor readings, Mr. Spock?). Well, I am doing that, and it does indeed
seem to make a difference, so if you try one of these out, doing this might
help give a better experience of what the amp can do (that and using a bass
cab)."

Cheers, Tim
