While I'm curious to hear what you all think of this mix, my real confusion is on the arrangement. I'm not sure if there are to many short instrumental breaks or what.
If you can make it through to 3:30 the pay off is a background singer that melts my bubblegum. Need to figure out how to get her doing the lead and dumping the singer.

I think the arrangement on this production is good. I think the form of the song is too long, and the singer annoys the shit out of me, which makes it all the longer. But the song isn't too long because of those exceptionally welcome instrumental breaks.

...and the singer annoys the shit out of me...
A great man once said to me "Are you happy with the song/vocals?"...
I wasn't, so if you don't like them, ditch her and start again...
Worked for me...
And yes it's way too long...

ah, christ, she aims so flat. it's not her actual tone, by the way, it's her intonation, which may be cured by, among other things, flipping phase on her headphones or taking a cricket bat to her throat. i am not a lawyer, but i think the jury will convict the headphone phase flipper before the bat wielder depending on if they have actually heard the track.
all that shit being said, i like the track quite a lot except for the fade at the end which always feels like giving up to me. it has a nice, plodding feel, which could be really cool if you can square the vocals away. i played in a band that had similar arrangements and a female vox, the difference being, she nailed the same type of vibe. she really worked at it, though. an example of that is here (http://solitaryconfinement.us/yantra.htm).
i'll listen more on the upstairs system if i can...

Can't ya just sneak the background singer into the studio late at night, replace the main vox and tell the first girl you've applied some super secret high-tech processing to her track.....
then change all your phone numbers....
Back to the song.... I like it a lot. arrangement seems fine to me. It's just REALLY long. can you edit some fluff out of there? if you cut out a minute or more, it would probably make the song much more capbable of keeping the listener's interest for the duration....

I'll have to ditto the above comments but I may have a suggestion...
Speed the tune up a few notches. It has sort of a Irish Folk feel to it but way too slow.( IMHO)May help her out a bit too. I'd like to hear it alittle faster just for kicks...
