Is anyone actually using these with Logic 8, and if so are they actually working like they did with Logic 7, and if so how the fuck did you get them to work because I sure as hell can't.

Tried updating the firmware to the latest LC version, then to the latest MCU version in LC mode, then back to the LC version because at least it kinda worked.

All those nice faders and buttons and here I am fucking with a mouse again...

Evil! Evil! Evil! Evil!

Have you done a search on the LUG?

I'm using my 'ringer Control surface without any trouble, can't imagine the real LC not working.

Thanks for the link, usually I go sniffing around for such info in those places. There is a wide variety of pain floating around out there regarding recognition of XT units in conjunction with the main control thingies. They fucked up, it would seem. Next task is to see if I can wipe the EPROM in both the units and then install the most basic version using the MIDI update thing and see what happens. Or wait and see if Apple gets their shit together and addresses this.

Going by their track record as of late I wouldn't hold my breath...

Actually, Apple is working to put a lot of that stuff back... they're just not out there telling everyone, "Yeah, we fucked up..."

Also wonder if the OP tried to trash the CS prefs and rebuild the controller from scratch. Some of us with other controllers (I use a ProjectMix, and I know of few people with Mackies) wound up doing this and things are somewhat back to normal(if you think Apple is bad, M-Audio has the poorest track record for getting software & drivers out).

I'm going to take a wild guess and say:

1- You must be using Apogee hardware

or

2- your midi interface is M-Audio?

I had the problems you describe and solved them with the latest drivers of both. Leopard is not the issue because it had happened on Tiger for me. Something is interfering with the midi signal to the controllers and things just go bananas in Logic 8 or don't work at all.

Nope, no Apogee and the MIDI box is a Unitor 8. When I get a chance today I'll dig up the manuals for the control surfaces and see what I can do to make them happy again.

If I may ask, I'm reading through the tread and all I see is that it doesn't work and what you tried to trouble shoot, would you mind describing the issue, perhaps I've run across it and been able to solve it, dunno.

I looked at my MCU and XT and C4 and it seems on the first 2 I am using version 2.1.2 of their firmware, though on their site for some reason they say not to use it unless you absolutely have to.

Since I don't know what the behavior is (beyond fucked up :D ) I can also suggest to see and make sure that the check box under the control surface preference setting pane which makes logic 'let go' of the control surface when it's out of focus is not checked. I tried that thing out, and sometimes it doesn't behave right.

I'm sure you also went through the steps of opening a blank template in logic 8, going to control surface setup, deleting the existing setup and making it scan it again to see i that helps.

Just throwing ideas out, happy to help with anything I can think of.

Figgers... the one place you won't get censored for your opinions and you're keeping silent. I guess you're applying for a job at the Genius Bar (just remember that there are no drinks there :D ).

Yeah, so anyways...

I imported a template .lso from version 7, and it came in just dandy. What I am seeing is when there is a track selected in the arrange window, trying to access another track de-selects everything and I can't record unless I grab the mouse and select it that way (it says it can't record audio in the automation folder). I noticed that it selects in the environment window/mixer just dandy, but as I am sicker than a very sick dog right now, I haven't got around to trying select/rec arm in that window. Plus, the save button doesn't save shit... but upon snooping around I find plenty of folks have the same issue with saving from the control surface.
