I've just been noticing...


That about every 3 days or so, when I go to the front news page on GOOGLE, that there is a linkset to "Amy Winehouse".

Now, I must confess, I know NOTHING about this alleged person named "Amy Winehouse". Apparently she seems to have an endearing little retro thing working for her.

all I know, is that, over the last, say, month, the top 3 people FEATURED on the front page of google has been George Bush, AMY WINEHOUSE, and maybe Obama.

I went looking for something about the WORLDWIDE STOCK MARKET CRASH, and it wasn't front page news. all I could find was something about Amy friggin' Winehouse.

I don't begrudge this girl her little day in the bright light...but she's even PUSHING BRITTNEY off the front page.

Go figure.

Has this person managed to, in the span of her apparently short number of years, create an actual worldwide following, such that she's more important than Darfur and Gaza?

I want to know one thing: Who's doing her publicity? What is their phone number?

These days her official news name is Crack-smoking-pill-popping-mainlining-singer-Amy-Winehouse. Can't get away from her over here. The press have got bored with Pete Doherty because he hasn't died yet or gone to prison so they've moved on to another celebrity wreck.

Seriously, dude, wtf are you getting your news from google for, when you have every major newspaper in the world plus CNN and BBC News at your fingertips?

FYI - Amy Winehouse is one of the few music acts right now who is actually making money. Drug problems aside, she seems to have her music together enough that people will actually pay for it. If you are not familiar with her music, even in just a cursory way, then you are not paying attention.

As for your news sources: I completely ignore the major news outlets since they have proven themselves to be either worthless or a Republican propaganda shrill or a combination thereof.

Other sources that I trust include GoLEFT.TV - http://www.goleft.tv - Direct Democracy - http://www.mydd.com - The Daily Kos - http://www.dailykos.com - and Air America Radio - http://www.airamerica.com - although these sources are obviously liberal/left in their biasses and one must take that into account when reading/listening to their information.
