Anyone tried it yet?
Is the EuCon protocol working better than Mackie Control or HUI protocols?
...or is it just a "IvegotaEuphonixinmystudio! thing?
Is it worth the doe?

My understanding is that EuCon uses high speed Ethernet rather than MIDI.
I'm sure most of digidesign's competitors will be supporting it as a competitor to Icon technology.

Gonna keep my eyes on this. Looks very promising.

Does anyone know if you can use the Control, and the mix seperate from each other?
Or do you have to have the control, to be able to use the mix section?

Is it that hard to go to the Euphonix site?
Mix Brochure (http://www.euphonix.com/artist/products/mc_mix/Brochure_MC_Mix.pdf)
Obviously it is possible to use this without the Control. The Mix contains transport buttons as well which would be rather pointless otherwise.

Yes. From what I've heard EuCon is definitely superior. It's gonna be fun to try this thing.

I noticed (on the SOS video) something that is probably a "nothing" type of thing: when the guy moves a fader from the MC Control, the corresponding fader on the MC Mix moves as well.
I wonder if this something that will be fixed - or maybe it is meant to be that way .... but then my question is: why have it that way?

Yep, Bob is correct as well on the connect. All Pieces I believe are standalone. I have and use a Mackie Universal Control Pro at home and like it, but the EuCon sitting on the center sec/VCA Area on your Large Format Analog Console is an absolutly great intragration of both worlds. If you have a large plasma up by the mains its a pretty nice way to work. Personally Ive never had a setup where I could automate DAWS with faders and use a console with out serious space issues. (Not to mention a mackie on top on a SSL is super ghey looking.)
Anyway
I will say I can actually control more from the surface of my mackie, but in the touch screen and soft buttons can be laid out to do jus about anything, scripts, "Kequences". Pretty Neet.
Have Fun.
