I have been using digital for most of the time i have being recording. Yestersay i decided to use the analog port on my pre (Which has both) coz i wanted to buy a new preamp that only had analog ports. I wanted to make sure my computer could receive the signal. And HOLY SHIT!!!!! it was like a ray of sunshine on the darkest day. WOW. lt left digital for dead.
Point of topic. ANALOG ABSOLUTLY KILLS DIGITAL!
PS sorry if im stating the obvious. I finally understand what all the hype is over.

Oh, the hype is definitely over...
Damn right fucker, and don't forget it.
Wow.
I totally don't want to be on that guys team. I'm hybrid anyway, but still... Guilt by association and all...
Ahhh, GS... It's a bit humorous noting how many presonus toting, HR824 listening tin-eared noobz were quick to attempt to spank this guy. Seriously. Start taking a gander at the various "rooms". Listen to the samples! I especially like the one with the mirrors and the hr824's. Golly!
In the end, they were rather nice to him, what with politely pointing out that if the audio made it into his computer, it was not exactly analog... turned out he was using his sound card a/d converters. Apparently it was a step up.
What ever happened to the good ole days when he would have been torn limb from limb with blood everywhere?
I just found my "Bohemian R.A.P. cd's... must attempt to listen again. I remember getting torn apart on rec.audio.pro when I mentioned I would occasionally use a dyna-mite (the old plastic one, not the rackmount) on kick and snare for country schtuff.
Whatever.
Same shit, different day.
Hell, I may need to try this analog sound card input myself!

I always get a kick out of the Analog vs Digital Speaker and Microphone debates that pop up every now and then.

If you really want shits and giggles go and spend a minute on the hip hop production forum.
:icon_eek: :icon_eek: :icon_eek:
Have beers and 30 valium to hand.
Nothing against the genre. Just that forum.

What about my 44? Or would my Tech 9 be preferable?
Nothing against the genre.
I used to like it when it was still cool, which was prior to 1987. But now that it is used by every marketing company to promote whatever crap is being promoted, hip-hop has lost all of it's relevancy.
Just that forum.
Lemme have a have'addem and I'll link back here. Then Comedy Central can troll it for new material. :D

my pal Luis just recorded a project all analog
24 track MCI console (same as Pink Floyd Animals) to multi track tape, and then mixed to tape before mastering
no software no plugins
go to my space (link below) and you will see "Into The Presence" at the top of my friends list
when you go to Into The Presence, also go to Luis' solo site which has another song
any deets required let me know - the Lambrometer

That stuff sounds great.
Although I have to wonder if making an all Analog record these days is somewhat gimmecky.

Not at all. Use what works best for the project at hand.

you made the analog signal path longer, which can't ever be a good thing by itself
uh? hmm...
Wow, so does that mean all the recordings that Bob did back in the 60's aren't good? I never knew.

someone please go post that they put an entire drumset in front of 1 mic and SUMMED it out of the analog output of the mic pre and comepared it to a setup with 10 mic's into out of the digital outputs (aes to make it sound profesional) of their Yamaha DM 2000 and that the analog summed setup sounded much better .....
should keep them going for a month or so ....

Please have him send me some vinyl or tape, so I can hear it entirely in analog!
Would analog MySpace be a bunch of people sitting in a big room together?

No, but the internet connection would be run from an analog phone line - to avoid conversions.

they WILL be good, as soon as they've been beat detectived and tuned and brickwall limited.
we have the technology to fix them up just fine.
I don't care WHAT they say on gearslutz... digital is better than analogue
Digidesign PROVED it!!
I saw it on Wired Science.
