I have been free of the audio empire since the four track version was released and now, due to an influx of mix projects I HAVE to buy into the empire.
I can't justify HD accel, I like my rig as is but I need a transfer rig so i don't have to burden others with the render to zero lame dance.
The Mbox is USB and I always found them to be a kludge.
The 002 rack is firewire and may be mor robust...
Anything I should know?

Yeah,
there's M-Audio supporting Alsihad now (M-powered).
They have an interface with a lots of ADATs bridge.
I think you have motu, do you have a 2408 for your digital interfacing ?
If so you could run PT thru it and use your MOTU rig (up to 18 in/out)
just a thought

Hmmm.
Yeah malice, I use MOTU converters but my 2408 is my headphone send only, since i can't stand the sound of it.
Chances are i'll only be using it to do transfers and have all of the BF plugs(from before when the supported DP), Reason, Live and a bunch O' other stuff already.
I'll look at the M-audio stuff just in case.
I really hate that it's come to this.

I really hate that it's come to this.
I feel your pain.
I had to get a 001 just to do transfer in my old G4.
you will now feel the power of the dark side.
Don't let your anger dominates your feelings while using it.
Try to stay focused and vigilant, and think about enjoying things like your children or a nice sunset in a cool summer night in Savanah...
best of luck

Na'er a cool summer night...
I see, the Musicians toolkit is almost as much as the Mbock2pro to add 16 tracks and a bunch of meaningless bullshit.
I feel the anger already...
Must focus.

M-Powered using an M-Audio PCI card is wonderful!

If I only had a PCI slot.
I can get the Mbox2 pro and the music toolkit for under a grand. I guess that's where I'm headed.
Soon I'll be asking about HD process cards whilst standing next to a river of lava.

* Danger - Possible Stupid Question Alert *
Does your DP rig talk any of the common file exchange formats ie: OMF, AES31, AAF etc?
Is it possible to bypass the Devilspawn entirely by pursuing this path, and saving you from spending money on crap you don't want?
Cheers,
Tim

Tim,
I've done the AAF and OMF thing before, the real problem is if i need to send the files back.
The way I'm looking at it is I don't want anything to get in the way of people wanting to work with us, until now it wasn't such a big deal but now it's becoming an issue. DP is shitty about coming in and out of AAF (a good exchange format) and OMF doesn't do higher sample formats.
The grand will be paid off in no time and will get me back into program I may have to use elsewhere without having to suck the HD teet.
I've held off and travelled my own path for as long and as far as I can without seeming like a contrarian, now it's (unfortunately) time to become a part of the Borg and allow my clients seamless interaction which as a business owner is becoming more important than my soul.
The M2pro seems to have enough power to do B-3, vocal, guitar and whatever Ods without having to put up a hoop so I'm going there.
But thanks for caring enough to remind me once more that I'm spending scratch on what could be a set of Pelusos, a KM 84 or some A-Designs pres.
FWIW I've got a 96k mix project from a band dropped by Sony, a cool garage band mix project and another guy in town that'll be bringing me drum tracking sessions that I can then drop into PT and he'll never know I didn't suck the HD hog.
Yep, it's a slippery slope and since I've only had one client ask for Radar in the last year this is where I'll end up.
I have to go throw up now.
