Bass guitar? Sax? Trumpet? Whatever?

I think it would be a good thing if we could put up songs that people could collaborate with at will, both as musicians and mix engineers.

Anyone could upload a track, and anyone could download the tracks, do a mix, and upload the mix. As other musicians upload tracks, the mixer could do another mix. Pro mixing chops optional; Amateurs who need practice are invited to the party.

We could wind up with, say, 2 or three (or more) drums mixes (or upload individual drum tracks if you prefer) electric bass, fretless bass, bass viol to choose from, for example.

If you think you have a great mix and someone shows up with a killer flugelhorn, xylophone or nickelharpa track, guess what?

Do another mix.

(enjoy)

Absolutely.

That's the entire point of this forum's existence.

Okay, my teacher once told me that for a decent groove the
breaks in between are very important.
I have some long break to offer here ->[insert 3.51 of silence here] <-
and thought to go in a rockish direction with it.
Add parts if you like!

BTW, nice idea, nobby. If I understand you right you're don't
looking for complete songs but more for those incomplete gems
laying somewhere on your harddisk where maybe adding some
more instrumentation and probably a fresh set of mixing ears will
do the magic?

To avoid any confusion, I'd say incomplete production. One person can, for example, play acoustic guitar and sing, and that can be complete song, but may be wanting as far as arrangement and production are concerned. Musicians can upload tracks, and anyone who wants to can create a mix, or two, or ten.

In this thread, the song Spanish Skies starts with just a rhythm guitar track and a click track. I'd like to flesh out the rhythm section to start with. I' working on a pilot vocal track for it also, with the goal of having both instrumental and vocal versions.

Anyone wanting to contribute a song can start their own thread, musos upload tracks, mixers download, mix, and upload their mixes. Rinse and repeat.

Hey Nobby,

I think some kinda sketch vocal would be helpful to generate ideas with the guit part. I played with drum parts a bit, but me being a back-beat monkey has the downside that I can't swing from a ROPE. I think you need someone who's got the big-band/jazzy chops to really lay this one down.

Or even a bass part that borrows from traditional jazz but comes at the song from an angle - more modern fretless sound or aggressive/distorted slap-bass. Something to shake it up.

Maybe when I hear the vocals and lyrics I'll retract everything I just said <g>.

You may have to wait a bit for the pilot vox. Anyway, this should work as an instrumental. Bass is vital, but we may have to wait for that also.

Would riffs by themselves be appropriate..

I've gotta a couple of riffs that "i" like but i'm struggling to arrange anything with it..

I suppose that would be a bit much really, or would it???

Fuck i don't know....:Roll eyes:

Give it a shot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
