Here in NYC for a little radio show action and visit with some of the gang.
I am about to head out to the MOMA...have not been since they renovated a few years back and I am jazzed about it...especially since my fellow Museum slut Malice is not here to enjoy it.
Hehehehehehehe
Saturday I will do the Met again and Malice will not be there.
If I hit the Guggenheim later Malice still won't be there.
SOOOOOOOO many excellent Galleries and so little Malice.
Hehehehehe
But I am not rubbing it in...the Lord knows that is not my style.
I will issue a full report some time between now and my return to Canukistan in a week or two.
Oh...and I will be hitting the Dali Museum in St. Pete's early next week....no Malice there either.
Hehehehehehe
Cheers,
SlutVark

Fuck you... you Canuk dimwit.
You're on my turf now. My goons are scouring Manhattan for your smelly lumberjack ass as I type this. Rest assured... they WILL find you.
And WHEN they find you(which should be easy, as they have been told to follow the stench of rotting seal blubber), you're going to have your own display at the Guggenheim.
"Stomped Habs Fan" by Slipperman.
Brought to you by the city of NY, MSG, and NY Rangers Hockey.
Fuck you.
Die.

Have you been to the Dali museum before this Aard? You will undoubtedly Enjoy Yourself there.
I think The Hallucinogenic Toreador is still hanging there, along with two or three other mural-sized paintings, on the same wall. I felt like I couldn't move for hours....

Figueras.
Maybe 2 or 3 hours drive from Malice's lighthouse.
THE place for Dali lovers.

When Aardy comes here, I'm planning a road trip to Dali's museum in Figueras.
That's a must

The new MOMA is wonderful. I could (and have) spent a day on the fifth floor.

Am I just an un-cultured slob for thinking that there was going to be pictures of sluts in this thread??

Ahhhhh.
Just back and no sign of Slippy's thugs.
Fifth floor rules.
I still think Pollock is the greatest scam in the history of art.
De Kooning does it right though.
Monet and Manet....hmmmmm.
Loads of Pablo, some Vinny.
Rachel drives my eyes batty...good for her.
Jesper...here and there.
Cezanne, Matisse, Dali and Gauguin...no doubting.
Nice new digs too.
My fave display is in the members private room. It is the second finest collection of Habs finery on earth...next to the hall of fame room at the Bell Center.
Wicked.
God bless the Habs.
Cheers,

Aardy, if you are in St Pete's on a Thursday, that is when you should go to the Dali museum. There's a guided tour, and a free flick. I was there about 6, 7 years ago, blew my mind. I totally recommend it if anybody is thinking of it. I am jealous, I'd love to go again.
I was at the Guggenheim in May of 2001, so I haven't seen the renovations, please tell us about them:Thumbsup:

BTW.
No shit but Pounce has a number of his works that could easily hang at the MOMA.
Absolute truth.
Fact.
He is one of my faves.
Proud to call him a friend...and I was, before I saw his canvas work.
STUNNING!
I have some collector pals who would like to take his work off his walls.
POUNCE IS A KILLER!!!
My name is Aardvark and I approve of this message.

Well...hehehehe...I have been to a few Guggenheims.
*asshole showoff comments*
I presume you mean the NYC install...nice building...I liked it better than the displays.
Prefer the one in Venice (except the Pollock room...hehehe).

Sounds like you had a nice time then, eh?
I'm with you you on Jack the Dripper. To me, modern art gets silly about when DuChamp nails a urinal to the wall and says anything an "artist" puts in a "museum" is "art". And you wind up with rooms of "paintings" that are just black canvas and "sculpture" that looks like something the contractor forgot to throw away.
Did you see that new (to MOMA), tiny 3D Dali piece you look at through a glass window? That one killed me. And nobody has mentioned Magritte, one of my faves.
Also, there is something very special about seeing the actual paintings of some of the "greatest hits". Picasso's "Starry Night" or Rousseau's "Sleeping Gypsy" or even Wyath's "Christina's World". They are images you think you know, but seeing the real thing is different.
I think I missed the Canuck room. Do you have to show a bottle of Molson's to get in?

Excellent. I always knew there was something prescient about you.
Magritte is the real deal.
As for the Habs room...you need to donate to the right folks.
There is no 'Rangers' display...these dudes are serious...
Except for the Pollock shit.
Hehehehehe

Picasso's "Starry Night"
Not being picky or anything, but did't Van Gough do "Starry Night" ?....or did Picasso do one too ?
Just wondering....

Oops:Uh oh: Of course he did. And the thickness of the paint in the original is just amazing.
I was just at MOMA a few weeks ago and the one that really got me was Magritte's "Empire of Light". Fantastic.

Gotta resurrect the museum thread. I just saw the "El Greco to Picasso" show at the Guggenheim and it is spectacular! It's a history of Spanish art arranged by theme, not time or artist. So there is a section of still lifes with a Velasquez and a Miro with similar themes hanging side by side. Or an El Greco weeping Virgin shown with a Picasso weeping woman of Guernica.
This is a great exibit.

I liked the goog..(the NY one) v cool building.I miss NY...feels like the home I never had. The Van Gough in Hampsterland is nice but my favorite one that I never get bored of is Le Louvre.
BTW on the subject of Starry night...that brings to mind Don Mccleanface (Vincent)- whats wrong with American Pie as a song Probb? You might have heard it too many times to enjoy but surely it is a song of craft?

Did you catch the Manet/Velázquez exhibition at the Met a few years back? I went twice... too good indeed.
Gotta envy the New York/London/Paris/etc... folks who have access to so many incredible and diverse galleries.
Bastards!
At least in Canada we have the best Hockey Museum in the world!!

This place is a MUST too : Musée d'Orsay in Paris (http://www.musee-orsay.fr)
There is a relatively small self-portrait there which is one of my all time favourites :

For some reason, whenever I see this thread title I always read it as "je suis un slut dans Gallery".
I didn't know Aardy did any modeling.
