Alright guys, I have been brainbusting this for a bit now. I have a API dsm setup tied to my HD rig. I have a control 24 (big mouse) that I use for mixing and use the pres when I have to for tracking. Bottom line, I mix out of the box into 16 channels of API, out to my 2500 Buss comp and then out of the 7800 master section to my Benchmark ADC-1, then AES into Pro Tools via the Digi 192.

My setup looks like this.

One Apogee DA-16 X takes all the audio from Pro Tools and kicks it to my API stuff. I then have 3 Apogee Rosetta 800's wired to my analog gear in a TT bay. i also have a 192 as well for hardware insert. It is a nice flowing system that works well, however

THE QUESTION: Seeing that I come out of my rig into the Apogee DA-16X. That supports my OUTS. How can I audition and use all the cool features of that when my 192 is set for analog Compressors and EQ. I can't for my life figure it out. Should I consider using my Control 24 and a cheap monitor setup for that ability and then the Blue Sky's through the API.

Just trying to figure out how to audition. Pro Tools does not allow, but the first 8 on that and it looks to default to the 192. Seeing that it is wired to the bay and not to the DA-16x I am at a loss I think.

Ideas?

I think that I may have figured it out. Going to try to put my DA-16X first in line. I think though that my 192 gets lost if it is not first. Not sure why, but I remember that for some reason.

I will let you know.

Glad I could be of service - seriously, where would you be without my priceless advice and insight? Hahahahaha.

Sorry - I'm an idiot - that may have only been amusing to me.

Yep - because we both know that I am the one who really helped him with his issue ... as we know where he would've been without my priceless advice and insight

You guys were incredible. The check is in the mail. Thanks for the quality customer service. Even my warranty was out and you still helped me.

*WAKE UP* Oh hell that was me thinking that DIGI would help me, but nope.... Not registered on my C24 and the 7.4 was out of 30 day warranty so the guy became a dick and told me that my credit card would work though. Figured I had done enough "support" for digi so told him thanks, but I will figure it out.

:finger:

Figured it out. Took the 192 outta the first and relied on the DA-16XC X-HD card to work. It did. I can now audition through my API summing rig and listen to shit before I bring it in.

Great work guys.... :doubledeuce:

Actually, I helped him the most by not offering any advice or insight because my knowledge of an HD rig couldn't even fill a thimble. :D

The first people I would call is Apogee rather than digi.

 Ya talked to Brett there and he was great on the phone. Even told me that if I mentioned to Digi that I was using Apogee and Benchmark that they would have turned me off.

Figured it out though. Just needed to put my DA-16X on the core and move the I/O a bit. The audition path now works and I can hear stuff before I import it in. Have not had that feature for a year now.

Thanks.
