I have used 96K before without an issue.

Yesterday, I went to record solo piano in 96K, and it worked, but when I put a space designer on any track there was a ridiculous amount of clicking and popping, like changing clock rates in the middle of a take on the master clock.

It's a digimax FS ---> RME HDSP 9632. It's cheap, I know.

I had the project setting in logic 8 set to 96K, and tried rebooting and trying another session as well. Nothing else was connected via SPDIF that would mess with anything. The clock on the FS was set to 96K.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue before.

I am assuming you hear no artifacts from the piano track itself.

My first hunch would be that it's an IR problem. Are you using the original Space Designer IR's?

I've been using a bunch of SD's at 88.2KHz with no problems. I don't use 96KHz unless I'm doing a video project.

Do you have to specifically set one of your devices to slave? I know I have to do this on my 24I/O and if I don't, I'll get what you're experiencing right now.

It happens with the default "synthesized IR" although also with the "Nice Wood Room" one I was hoping to use for this.

The piano was acting up a few times.. I'd hear little digital clicks and pops every 15 seconds, but I wouldn't hear them on playback. Except one that was. This is at 44.1(where space designer worked) and 96K(where it did not).

The HDSP settings automatically sets itself to slave when the presonus is in master, and with nothing attached via spdif there'd be nothing else to look for when determining clock source.

This has never happened before with this same setup so I guess I have a lot to look into.

In a few months we are moving, and I can't wait to dump the prosumer gear. :D

Thanks. :)

wow

some idiot put the buffer size to 32

I never thought to check it because it's stayed put at 256 for years, with no one ever touching it

damn. that's some stupid shit. :(

Yes... it's Der AppelKoreAudioGeist at work.

Mind you, since I dumped my ProjectMix, I've been able to track at 32 with my MOTU 24I/O. I just won't mix with it when plug-ins like Space Designer are involved.
