some of you bastards are bound to be behind a mixing board tonight. i am.

anyhow, happy new years you working for the money types.

hope your new years gig is a good one.

mine is pretty boring, it's very family friendly so therefore nothing is getting out of hand and there is no drinking going on here at the space. not so great. otoh, the pay is great and it's not hard work at all. so that is an upside.

ps: now i always want to work at venues with wifi.

I worked til the early evening but thats just Pantomine for you !! You've never seen actors wanting a show so fast in their lifes, so we delayed them like they have been delaying us all the other times. Happy new year everyone though

I did a gig at a party centre.

250.00 cash, good food, transportation...

A band I've done a million times, so it was pretty cake for 6 hours work, all in all.

Sip of champagne as the clock hit the hour, but nothing more. Had another set to go. :)

I was behind a bass for 6 hours at a private party in a millionaires club. The band was in one room ( with a 40 foot ceiling) and the guests in another. At least the money was good.

A cover band I was in once played a holiday party where they set us up in the hotel ballroom where the guests ate dinner. After dinner (right before we started playing) they announced that the open bar was set up out in the lobby. The room emptied in seconds. The hotel folks clearing the tables liked us a lot, and yes, the money was good.

Another time, we (the same band) were playing a company party, and near the top of our first set, the boss' wife freaked out, saying someone had stolen her purse. While we were trying to play, they were all rushing around first looking for the purse and then the person whom they were convinced had stolen it. They were yelling at each other from across the room, bringing in the hotel security guys, calling the cops... huge uproar, everyone pissed off as hell. They finally told us that we might as well stop playing; everyone not involved in the fracas had left and the party was a bust. Of course then the bubblebrain found her purse right where she had left it, on the counter in the bathroom of their room. At least they paid us, and yes, the money was good. Bonus: we got home early that night.

It's all I can manage to not boot people like that square in the ass.
